The People's Movement for Just Society (PMUFF), led by Chamnong Nuphan, along with northern farmer networks and community representatives who traveled from Bangkok's central station, gathered in front of Government House on Phitsanulok Road to submit a letter pressing the government on its plan to dissolve the Land Bank (a state enterprise, or BTDT) by September 30, 2026, as part of a public-sector restructuring initiative. The protesters demanded that the government review the decision by the Committee for the Development and Promotion of State Enterprises (CPSE), amend the royal decree establishing the Land Bank, and extend the dissolution deadline by at least one year to allow a permanent body to address land-related problems in line with land reform and distribution principles enshrined in the constitution, without harming those suffering from land disputes. They also requested PMUFF representation in government negotiations on the issue and called on the government to expedite the appointment of a subcommittee to study and revise the National Parks Act 2019 and the Wildlife Protection Act 2019 under the National Land Policy Committee (NLPC). Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri, in his capacity as NLPC chairman, was scheduled to hold talks with community representatives that same afternoon. Police and crowd-control units were deployed around Government House to maintain security and enforce the Public Assembly Act 2015. Demonstrators read a statement urging Songsak to accelerate talks with protest groups on resolving the Land Bank closure and vowed to remain camped at the site until their demands were met, warning that they would escalate action if progress stalled. They also submitted a letter to the Bangkok Police Commissioner requesting his participation in talks scheduled for August 4, before the crowd planned to relocate to the CPSE office and the area in front of Government House.

Rayong Governor Traipop Wongtrairat revealed that reports were received of dark-colored, foul-smelling soil being dumped in Moo 4, Phananikhom Subdistrict, Nikhom Pattana District. He ordered local agencies to immediately investigate the facts on the ground to clarify the situation and ease public concerns. On July 31, 2025, District Chief Pattana Phoothanapibal instructed the Nikhom Pattana Dharma Center to coordinate with Phananikhom Subdistrict Municipality, with Deputy Mayor Wanchai Prommasat leading the investigation. The investigation confirmed that the dumped soil was placed on land managed by Rayong Self-Help Community, which is currently unoccupied. Representatives from Omtasity Industrial Estate explained that the dumping resulted from a communication breakdown, with about 20 truckloads of soil temporarily stored at the site. "The provincial authorities will not sit idle on this matter," Governor Traipop stated. "Although the operator has provided an explanation, to reassure the public and prevent environmental damage, relevant agencies have ordered Omtasity Industrial Estate to immediately remove all soil from the area and return it to their own facility. This operation is expected to be completed within three days."

"Anything that goes against the current is difficult. Rowing upstream is difficult. Creating virtue and goodness is also difficult," reflects Luang Pho Cha Supatthato of Wat Nong Pa Pong in Ubon Ratchathani.

Luang Pho Yid Chanthsuvanno of Wat Nong Jok in Kuiburi District, Prachuap Khiri Khan, was a renowned Buddhist teacher. In 2012, his principal disciple Chaiya Amsaraang commissioned the "89th Anniversary Amulet of Luang Pho Yid" to commemorate the monk's 89 years of life. The oval-shaped amulet has a loop, bordered edges, and a raised half-length portrait on the front with the number 89 stamped on the robe above the lower border. The reverse features a raised image of Hanuman carrying a flag with Khmer script and sequential numbering.

In 1969, Phra Thep Rattanamolee (Kaew Uthummaala), abbot of Wat Phra That Phanom in Nakhon Phanom, created amulets honoring Luang Pon Samet (Phra Kru Khee Hom), a venerable teacher and restorer of Phra That Phanom in Vientiane, Laos. These arm-shaped amulets were cast in multiple materials—nickel-plated copper, silver-plated copper, gold-plated copper, and patinated copper—featuring the seated monk in a Buddha-like posture on the front and the standing Phra That Phanom on the reverse.

Luang Pho Thong Suk Indracho of Wat Ton Don Luang in Cha-Am, Phetchaburi, was a celebrated monk of Phetchaburi province. His most popular amulet is the second edition, created in 1955 for a ordination hall dedication ceremony. The second edition is more highly valued than the first because the portrait resemblance is superior—even Luang Pho Thong Suk himself preferred it. The oval amulet features a half-length portrait on the front with the monk's name above, and on the reverse his personal yantra with the inscription "In commemoration of the ordination hall celebration" and the temple name and year stamped below. This amulet ranks among the most sought-after in Phetchaburi.

Luang Pho Khom Aniso, former abbot of Wat Phai Rong Waeo in Song Phi Non District, Suphan Buri, created numerous amulets, the most popular being the "Luang Pho Khom Holy Water Amulet." Commissioned in 1973 by Boonma Bunleriwannichaya and offered to the temple for free distribution, the amulet features a full seated meditation portrait on the front with a border inscription reading "Holy Water Amulet, Wat Potaram, Luang Pho Khom, Suphan Buri" and the word "Special." The reverse displays a Buddha image labeled "Phra Phuttha Koddom" with yantra script, making it another highly valued amulet.

Revered Buddhist Monk Luang Pho Hun Honored at Wat Jet Samian

Luang Pho Hun Phutthasaro, a revered Buddhist scholar and abbot of Wat Jet Samian in Ratchaburi Province for 28 years, passed away in 1974 after dedicating 52 years to monastic service and teaching.

Revered Buddhist Monk Luang Pho Hun Honored at Wat Jet Samian
3 Aug Khaosod

Luang Pho Hun Phutthasaro, also known as Phra Kru Mongkol Ratana, was a revered senior Buddhist scholar at Wat Jet Samian in Jet Samian Subdistrict, Potharam District, Ratchaburi Province, deeply respected by the local community even after his passing. He was born on Friday, April 14, 1899, at Ban Somtha, Mueang 5, Bang Ton District, Potharam, Ratchaburi. Like other boys of his era, he lived a typical childhood and completed his early education in 1913, achieving proficiency equivalent to fourth-grade primary schooling at Wat Somtha School.

At the proper age in 1919, he underwent ordination at Wat Somtha's ordination hall. However, after only one year of monastic life, he was conscripted for military service in 1920. Following his discharge in 1922, he felt a strong calling to deepen his study of Buddhist doctrine and sought re-ordination on March 17, 1922, at Wat Somtha. His preceptor was Phra Kru Satit Sutakara (Luang Pho Kong) of Wat Tha Luang Phol, his ordination teacher was Phra Ajahn Chao of Wat Tha Luang Phol, and his witness was Phra Ajahn Mat of Wat Bang Lan, Potharam District, Ratchaburi. He was given the monastic name Phutthasaro.

For two years, he studied Buddhist texts and the Pali language at Wat Somtha with his teachers and an elderly mentor, eventually mastering the translation of the Mangala Sutta. In 1924, he moved to Wat Bang Ton to pursue advanced Buddhist studies and ecclesiastical training for 18 years. In 1937, he was officially appointed as a Buddhist educator by the monastic order, earning widespread respect for his moral teachings to the community. In 1940, he was designated as a Dharma teacher for monks and novices within his temple.

In 1941, he returned to Wat Somtha to assist with monastic administration and continue as a Dharma teacher. Throughout his life, whether at Wat Bang Ton, Wat Somtha, or Wat Jet Samian, his students consistently passed the national Buddhist studies examination every year. In 1946, he was appointed abbot of Wat Jet Samian at the request of the local community, led by village headman Kowit Wongyara. As abbot, he reorganized the monastic community and developed the temple to flourish to the best of his ability.

In 1947, he was promoted to Kammavachacarya (ecclesiastical administrator). In 1958, he received the title Phra Kru Prathuan, and in 1969, he was elevated to Phra Kru Saññabat with the monastic title Phra Kru Mongkol Ratana by royal decree. He passed away peacefully on July 29, 1974, at Siriraj Hospital from heart failure, at the age of 75 and after 52 years in monastic service.

Wat Jet Samian, located in Mueang 3, Jet Samian Subdistrict, Potharam District, Ratchaburi Province, was established in 1757 and received the royal charter for its boundary in 1976. The temple houses an important shrine enshrining a cast image of its former abbot, serving as a spiritual center and focal point for the community. Both Phra Kru Satjahabhirom (Luang Pu Mueab) and Phra Kru Mongkol Ratana (Luang Pho Hun), the temple's two most venerated former abbots, left lasting legacies of merit and spiritual development that continue to inspire devotion to this day.

The amulets and auspicious objects created by these abbots remain widely sought after and cherished, particularly the first-edition coins cast in 1969 to commemorate Luang Pho Hun's elevation in monastic rank, minted in silver and gold.

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin led a delegation to Khao Yai National Park in Kanchanaburi province on August 3, 2026, to oversee the rescue operation for the injured wild elephant Sidon Thong Muan and her lost calf. The minister instructed all agencies to provide rigorous scientific treatment, closely monitor the elephants' condition, and ensure adequate medical supplies, food, and water while maintaining strict security protocols and accurate public communication.

Regarding the separated calf, the minister directed officials to prepare for the elephant's eventual return to its herd once fully recovered, while continuously monitoring the herd's behavior and location to determine the optimal time for release. He emphasized that if returning the calf to the wild proves impossible or unsafe, specialists should be consulted to develop appropriate alternative solutions.

Sidon Thong Muan is a male elephant approximately 50 years old, weighing about 4,000 kilograms, with an injury to its left hind leg. The elephant was first discovered on June 27, 2026, in the Ban Salob area of Kanchanaburi province, prompting immediate veterinary intervention by conservation area officials.

Samsung has unveiled the latest Galaxy Z Series foldable phones, headlined by the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra—the most powerful and thinnest foldable model to date. The lineup also includes the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold8, featuring a new 10:16 screen ratio that unfolds to 4:3, and the compact Galaxy Z Flip8 with a redesigned FlexWindow.

The standout Galaxy Z Fold8 boasts a fresh screen ratio engineered to match everyday content consumption habits, delivering practical performance for web browsing, video streaming, reading, and gaming. At just 201 grams, it is the lightest Galaxy Z Fold ever made, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and a large 4,800 mAh battery.

When folded, the 10:16 outer screen feels familiar and fits comfortably in hand, ideal for quick daily tasks like messaging, social media, and short videos. Unfolded, the expansive 4:3 main display provides immersive gaming and movie viewing. The screen ratio automatically adjusts when rotated to match natural eye level and reading angles, eliminating the need for additional devices. Samsung developed these ratios based on real everyday usage patterns.

The new Galaxy Z Fold features upgraded engineering for a refined foldable experience and a sleeker form factor, employing Flex Titanium technology. The titanium alloy film combined with improved titanium sheets strengthens the display support, absorbs pressure and impact, and reduces the visibility of the crease over time. The main display reaches 3,000 nits brightness, working alongside Vision Booster and a low-reflection display finish to deliver vibrant, sharp, and clear visuals even in bright outdoor conditions.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 camera features dual lenses at 50 megapixels, delivering high-definition detail across wide and ultra-wide focal lengths. The Dual Recording feature simultaneously records both front and rear cameras with preview on the outer display, enhancing composition capture. The My FanCam feature automatically tracks and frames selected faces, allowing video scenes to be adjusted to desired aspect ratios for easy uploading.

Thai Football Chief Says AFF Cup Broadcasting Rights Beyond Association Control

Thailand's football chief says the AFF Cup broadcasting rights are controlled by other entities beyond the association's reach, leaving fans unable to watch matches on free TV despite the national team's strong 2-0 record in Group B.

Thai Football Chief Says AFF Cup Broadcasting Rights Beyond Association Control
3 Aug Khaosod

Niwatpol Lamsam, president of the Football Association of Thailand, revealed that the broadcasting rights for the 2026 AFF Hunday Cup are not in the association's hands and are beyond its control. The Thai national team has displayed strong form, defeating Laos 5-0 and Malaysia 2-0 to lead Group B with full six points and remain undefeated in the tournament. However, many Thai fans have voiced frustration about being unable to watch matches on free television, as rights holder Sport Five sold the rights to TrueVisions, which broadcasts exclusively on the TrueVisions Now application.

Regarding this issue, Lamsam, who is among the committee members eligible to vote for a new director of Thailand's national sports authority, stated that if the broadcasting rights were in the association's hands, it could resolve the matter for Thai fans without issue. However, when rights belong to other entities, they are beyond the association's control and management.

Lamsam emphasized that sports are important in all dimensions, and whoever takes on the role of sports authority director must promote sports properly for Thai people and children, which will impact human development, national development, and international relations, while serving as a pillar for Thailand to stand proudly on the world stage. She praised the team's recent victories over Malaysia, a win not achieved in many years, and called for fan support as the team prepares to visit the Philippines and play Myanmar at Suphachalasai Stadium.

Lamsam highlighted the team's squad rotation, with nearly ten new players debuting and showing courage on the pitch. She noted that football welcomes players of all ages, citing examples like Lionel Messi, still playing at 39, and younger talents like goalkeeper Mick Yoskorn Buropa, who kicked a penalty and inspired confidence among younger players. She acknowledged the association's efforts to resolve off-field issues and promised continued development of the team's performance on the pitch. Regarding broadcasting rights, she reiterated that while the association would manage matters perfectly if it held the rights, decisions outside its control are beyond her ability to influence, and she thanked all fans and supporters of the Thai national team.

Thailand Rejects UN Report on Cambodia Border Dispute

Thailand Rejects UN Report on Cambodia Border Dispute
3 Aug Khaosod

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul rejected UN Special Rapporteur Tom Andrews' report on Cambodia's human rights situation, which claimed that 650,000 Cambodians were displaced following recent Thai-Cambodian border clashes. Anutin stated that Andrews issued his statement without hearing Thailand's account, and that Thailand does not accept this assessment, calling for further clarification from the Foreign Ministry. Deputy Prime Minister Sidesakdi Poungketkeaw will provide additional details.

Regarding Cambodia's planned submission to the UN on August 7 seeking recognition of the 1993 MOU and 1:200,000 scale map for border negotiations, Anutin asserted that Thailand already has a firm position on the 1993 MOU, stipulating conditions that must be met before any talks proceed. He emphasized that Thailand maintains this principle and Cambodia must review its approach if it wishes to negotiate with Thailand. Anutin declared that no one can force Thailand's hand, and Thailand has no need to justify its stance to anyone, regardless of any complaints filed.

However, Anutin noted that regarding maritime boundaries, since the 1994 MOU was cancelled, any negotiations must follow mandatory arbitration under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) of 1982.

Thailand's Aviation Authority Deploys AI and Big Data System

Thailand's aviation authority is developing a Big Data and AI system to integrate flight and operational data across domestic and international agencies, aiming to improve air traffic management efficiency and safety standards.

Thailand's Aviation Authority Deploys AI and Big Data System
3 Aug Khaosod

Thailand's Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (Aeronautical Radio of Thailand) is accelerating development of its Big Data and artificial intelligence system to integrate aviation data across domestic and international agencies, boosting air traffic management efficiency. Deputy Transport Minister Phatrapong Patpraset stated that the government prioritizes using data as a foundation for national governance, as quality information enables accurate, transparent policy decisions and responsive service delivery. The organization has been assigned to rapidly develop a Big Data management system and apply AI technology to link aviation data among relevant domestic and international agencies, creating a shared data ecosystem for multi-sector use.

Data integration will enable air traffic planning and decisions based on accurate, timely information, elevating safety standards, improving service efficiency, and strengthening Thailand's position as a future regional aviation center. Surachai Nupprom, acting chief executive of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand, said the organization is currently developing a Big Data aviation management system that collects and connects critical data including flight information, aircraft target data, and flight route data, along with aviation infrastructure information to support operations across all dimensions.

The data is being used to analyze runway utilization patterns, analyze aircraft holding areas, track aircraft movements both on ground and in flight, develop air traffic engineering system maps, analyze flight trends, forecast airspace usage, predict air traffic volumes, and plan resources to reduce delays, improve air traffic management efficiency, and raise safety standards. Aeronautical Radio of Thailand has also created a five-year Data Roadmap to standardize organizational data, enable efficient exchange and shared use with partner agencies, and support AI application and advanced data analytics. The Big Data system is therefore not merely a data storage system but critical infrastructure linking aviation agencies, supporting joint decision-making, improving air traffic management efficiency, and generating value across the country's aviation system for safety, modernization, and future readiness.
