Lawyer Files DSI Complaint Against Kan Jomphlang Over Alleged Gambling Website Link
A lawyer filed a DSI complaint against Kan Jomphlang, alleging links to an online gambling website worth over 200 million baht and demanding investigation into his finances and those of associates.
On September 21, Lawyer Sittra Biabangkerd, known as Lawyer Tam Baahlang, traveled to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to submit additional documents and evidence regarding whether Kan Jomphlang (Kanthasorn Pongpaibulvechiyan) has involvement with online gambling websites. He requested the agency investigate Kan's financial transactions and those of his family members and close associates to determine whether there is a connection to the complaints filed.
Lawyer Tam arrived in a Toyota Alphard wearing dark sunglasses and a black armor-style shirt decorated with cartoon character patches including Hello Kitty, One Piece, Doraemon, and Shin-chan. Upon exiting the vehicle, he performed as Kan Jomphlang, questioning how reporters arrived before him and joking about the appointment time.
In his statement, Lawyer Tam said he was providing additional information to DSI following a complaint filed the previous week about Kan's fundraising activities. Two days prior, he discovered a gambling website called USA888, which has since been shut down, but he has preserved screenshots and URLs. Lawyer Tam believes there are multiple related websites that will gradually emerge, with an estimated financial trail of over 200 million baht, though recent findings suggest the figure exceeds this.
Lawyer Tam noted that Kan Jomphlang has been absent from social media for 48 hours and called for him to clarify his involvement in allegations of corruption, fraudulent fundraising, and the gambling website operation. He named five individuals for DSI investigation: Kan Jomphlang, his wife, his parents, a person involved in automotive business who allegedly purchased homes valued between 10-100 million baht within years of knowing Kan, and a former chairman of Kan's foundation.
When asked whether the complaints constitute harassment, Lawyer Tam responded that if Kan were genuinely innocent, he would have nothing to fear and should defend himself publicly. He suggested that silence and inaction are suspicious, comparing the situation to a tiger hunting for prey, and stated that the investigation is legitimate, not harassment.
