Legendary Duet Singer Tong Vongtoo Dies at 56
Legendary Thai duet singer Tong Vongtoo, who achieved massive fame in the 1990s with partner To as the duo Vongtoo (TWO), has died at 56 from stage 4 nasal cavity cancer.
The Thai music industry has lost iconic duo singer Tong Vongtoo, real name Suraphan Jamlong-gul, age 56, who passed away at 10:20 a.m. on September 28, 2026, following treatment at Phumpol Hospital for stage 4 nasal cavity cancer. Tong was born on January 1, 1969, and entered the entertainment industry in 1991, achieving fame as part of the duo Vongtoo (TWO) alongside his partner To Suphap Weerakammintr under RS Promotion. The duo released their debut album "Rak Luan Luan Tae Kuan Na" in 1991, which became hugely popular with teenagers, followed by a second album "Deng Dai Tae Mai Diang" in 1992, both achieving sales exceeding one million copies. Tong's hit songs included "Rak Kuan Kuan," "Thoe Mai Khoi Tai," "Khon Lae Khon Diao Kan," and "Thoe Khue Phu Ying Khon Nan," and he also worked as a musician and music producer beyond his singing career. In his personal life, Tong was married twice—first to 1990s pop singer Pookie Parisna Prai-saeng with whom he had two children, and second to a university lecturer in 2011. He lived a simple life until recent news emerged that his daughter had requested blood donations for his emergency surgery due to severe blood loss, before the sad announcement of his death shocked the music industry and fans alike. Though Tong rarely made television appearances with his legendary duo partner To in recent years, a throwback clip from four years ago shows them on the program "Guess My Age," where To was revealed to be 55 years old and Tong 54 at that time.
