Man, 61, Killed When Cement Load Crushes Motorcycle Sidecar
A 61-year-old man in Nakhon Si Thammarat was killed when a cement block he was transporting broke loose and crushed him after his motorcycle sidecar's chain snapped.
At 1:30 p.m. on September 7, Sub-Lieutenant Somchok Saratun, deputy investigator at Phra Phrom Police Station in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, received a report of a motorcycle sidecar accident at Pak Soi 50/1 Road in Chang Wai subdistrict. The victim, 61-year-old Samran (surname withheld), was found dead beside a damaged cement block that had crushed his left arm. His head bore severe lacerations. A gray Honda motorcycle sidecar with a broken chain was found nearby.
Investigators determined that Samran was transporting a heavy cement block, which required careful driving. While traveling, the chain snapped, causing the sidecar to lose control and flip. The cement block fell and struck Samran, killing him. After an autopsy was completed, the body was released to family members for traditional funeral arrangements.
