Man Posing as Soldier Arrested in Drug Case
A 44-year-old man was arrested in Bangkok on a drug warrant while facing charges of impersonating a soldier on social media to solicit money from women.
On September 18, 2025, anti-narcotics police arrested Udom, also known as Wuthi, a 44-year-old man, based on a warrant from Chachoengsao Provincial Court issued on July 16, 2024, for possession of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine). He was apprehended in the Bangkholae subdistrict of Bangkok's Bangkolaem district.
Investigators discovered a Facebook account under the name "True-Hearted One of Yours" that posted numerous images of weapons and ammunition while falsely claiming to be a soldier with the rank of Corporal in the Royal Thai Army. The account also posted messages challenging government officials, generating significant engagement with likes, shares, and comments.
Further investigation revealed the suspect also operated a TikTok account called "Restless Person 1981 Thai Soldier," sharing military operation videos and images to build credibility and convince others he was an active soldier. The account combined soldiers' patrol footage and claimed footage of F-16 fighter jet operations.
When questioned, Udom admitted he is not a soldier and that the weapons images and military videos were downloaded from other soldiers' social media accounts. He confessed he fabricated his military status to gain likes and build credibility, and used this false narrative to solicit money from women by claiming he needed fuel for his vehicle while on duty. He stated no women had filed fraud complaints because any money received was given voluntarily out of affection.
Regarding the drug charges, Udom confessed that in early 2024, while using methamphetamine at a worker camp in Chachoengsao Province, police arrested him and seized 10 methamphetamine tablets. He was placed on probation but failed to comply with its conditions, leading to the arrest warrant. He is now in custody awaiting trial at Chachoengsao Provincial Court.
