Police revealed that Por was released from prison only two months ago but is suspected of five murders. Authorities are pursuing two other gang members and investigating whether additional crimes are linked to Por and his associate Thong. The initial case involved the disappearance of two Russian siblings in Chachoengsao province, leading to the arrest of Por and Thong, who confessed to killing the Russians and burying them in a forest near Ban Laem Subdistrict. They later admitted to murdering a Thai family of three—a mother, father, and daughter—during a robbery attempt in June, burying them nearby.

On July 31, Deputy Police Region 2 Commander Chatchai Surachetpong revealed that both Russian victims were found buried together in a one-meter-deep pit, with the woman beneath and the man above. The woman showed signs of physical abuse, while the man had approximately two gunshot wounds to the abdomen and head. Both bodies remained clothed and were laid directly on the ground without wrapping.

Regarding the Thai family, authorities say Por confessed to posing as a police officer to rob the home. When the daughter returned from a convenience store, she was abducted as well. All three were tortured, shot, and buried in the same pit. The suspect claimed he intended only to steal a motorcycle and did not know the Russian victims beforehand. Police are continuing to investigate whether additional crimes are connected and are actively tracking two remaining gang members believed to still be in the area.

A garbage truck struck and killed a sanitation worker at the Namchai landfill in Muang District, Chachoengsao Province, on July 31 at 3:30 p.m. Police from Muang Chachoengsao Station, along with a forensic doctor from Putthasoothon Hospital and rescue personnel, responded to the scene and found an orange municipal garbage truck from Bang Praing Subdistrict, Bang Pakong District, parked at the landfill with its rear bed raised. The victim, 66-year-old Aeknok, a sanitation worker employed by Bang Praing Municipality, was found crushed beneath the rear wheels with severe abrasions to his hip and abdomen. The truck driver, 56-year-old Mongkol, stated that he did not see the victim behind the truck while driving and believed the man had fallen and rolled under the wheels while attempting to remove debris caught on the truck's metal frame. Mongkol said he only realized what happened when he heard screams and stopped to investigate, finding his colleague in distress before he succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary police findings indicated the driver's account did not fully match the incident, prompting them to question additional witnesses. A 21-year-old backhoe operator working nearby stated that he heard the victim cry out and saw him already crushed under the rear wheels. The witness suggested that when the garbage truck turned, the driver may not have seen the victim standing beside the vehicle, and it was possible the victim's long-sleeved shirt caught on the truck, causing him to lose his balance and fall before being run over. After the investigation, the victim's daughter arrived from Bang Pakong District and wept upon seeing her father's body. The truck driver embraced her in an attempt to comfort her amid the somber atmosphere. The family expressed no dissatisfaction with the cause of death, believing it to be an accident.

31 Jul Khaosod

Police have arrested Thana (Po) and Thongchai (Flag) in a major murder case involving a Russian family of three. The suspects allegedly posed as police officers to demand debt payment, then forcibly took the family to a coconut plantation in Bang Lamung District, Chachoengsao Province, where they dug a grave and shot all three victims before burying them together. The female victim was found at the bottom with her hands bound behind her back, while the male victim was on top with gunshot wounds to the temple and abdomen. Investigators are investigating the involvement of two other accomplices named Ball and Fook.

According to the investigation, Po and Flag had a pattern of dressing as police officers to conduct fake inspections. In this case, Po allegedly sexually assaulted the daughter and seized their belongings before bringing all three family members to the plantation. The gang then dug a grave and shot all three victims with a firearm before burying them in the same hole. Police revealed the gang is suspected of committing 2-3 similar crimes that are currently under investigation.

Three More Bodies Found Buried Near Slain Russian Siblings

Police in Chachoengsao uncovered three more bodies buried near two slain Russian siblings, part of a robbery-murder spree where fake officers killed a family after stealing their motorcycle and vehicle in Sa Kaew province.

Three More Bodies Found Buried Near Slain Russian Siblings
31 Jul Khaosod

Police Region 2 Commander Chatchai Surachetpong revealed that three more bodies—a family of parents and child—were buried near two Russian siblings, separated by opposite sides of a road. The suspects posed as police officers, forcibly robbed the family, handcuffed the parents, and when the daughter returned from work at a convenience store, they detained all three. The victims were then killed and buried. Authorities arrested Thana (Pong), 43, and Thongchai (Thong), 39, on Pattaya court warrants for armed nighttime theft with vehicles or receipt of stolen goods. The crimes followed the disappearance of a black-gray Honda ADV 150 motorcycle belonging to two Russian siblings on July 26 in Wang Sombun district, Sa Kaew. After arrest, Thana confessed to shooting the brother twice and fatally assaulting the sister before burying their bodies in Chachoengsao province because they resisted the motorcycle theft. Officers escorted him to the burial sites and exhumed the two siblings' remains.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Chatchai Surachetpong, Region 2 commander, later disclosed that the two Russian siblings' bodies showed minimal decomposition. Both remained clothed; the brother bore two gunshot wounds, and the sister showed no signs of sexual assault, consistent with Thana's statement that robbery was the sole motive. His initial cooperation was deemed beneficial to the case.

Regarding the disappearance of the three-person family reported by relatives to Huai Yai Police on July 7, 2569, the family vanished on June 27, 2569, at 3:39 p.m. along with a Chevrolet vehicle. Region 2 revealed that four suspects posed as police officers, stormed the house seeking robbery, handcuffed the parents, and detained the daughter when she returned from her convenience store job. All three were transported away, tortured to death, and buried in a forest opposite the burial site of the Russian siblings across the road. Initial charges include armed nighttime theft with vehicles or receipt of stolen goods and impersonation of officers, with additional charges pending.

Doctor Warns Solo Travelers of Silent Carbon Monoxide Danger

A doctor's viral TikTok warning highlights carbon monoxide poisoning risks for solo travelers, citing a 2023 incident where 12 guests died in a Georgian resort after a poorly placed generator filled their rooms with toxic gas.

Doctor Warns Solo Travelers of Silent Carbon Monoxide Danger
31 Jul Khaosod

On July 31, Dr. Benz Masterpiece posted a warning on TikTok (@dr.benz_masterpiece) about the often-overlooked danger of carbon monoxide poisoning affecting solo backpackers, especially those traveling in Europe. He referenced a tragic incident in Georgia on December 14, 2023, when 12 guests died simultaneously in separate rooms at a resort without any signs of injury. The guests had to use a portable generator for heat after losing power in cold weather, but the equipment was placed inside the building, causing toxic gas to accumulate. When staff checked in the morning, all 12 appeared to be peacefully asleep. Such incidents are surprisingly common, the doctor noted, citing U.S. research documenting 3,405 recorded cases. The most common sources of fatal carbon monoxide are heating devices and water heaters in hotels. The warning has become so well-known among solo backpackers worldwide that many now carry portable carbon monoxide detectors and use them in every accommodation. Dr. Benz recommends placing the detector on the bedside table before sleeping each night so it can alert occupants to any dangerous levels.

Thailand Launches Big Data Platform to Boost Exercise Participation to 50%
31 Jul Khaosod

On July 31, 2026, Deputy Secretary-General Natthriya Thueiwongse of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports opened the "Move Together Day: CCC Festival" at Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok's Pathumwan district, announcing the launch of CCC Phase 3 as a national big data platform for exercise. The platform will integrate exercise and sports data from the public to provide evidence-based insights for formulating precise health and sports policies that better serve the needs of Thai citizens.

Thueiwongse stated that the ministry prioritizes encouraging consistent exercise and sports participation by leveraging technology and data as motivational tools, aligned with modern digital lifestyles. CCC serves as a crucial mechanism connecting citizens, government, private sector, and health networks.

"CCC is no longer just a fitness tracking app. We are developing it into a central platform that harnesses data for both public benefit and government policy management. Our core goal is to increase exercise participation among Thai people and make it a daily habit," Thueiwongse said.

Phase 3 of CCC development aims to integrate data from multiple applications and relevant agencies to analyze exercise behavior patterns across regions, age groups, and target populations. This data will enable the government to design policies, measures, and promotional activities tailored to specific groups' needs and behaviors.

A redesigned CCC application featuring improved usability and diverse workout challenges and activities has also been launched to make exercise more accessible and engaging. Additionally, a "CCC Community" platform has been created to connect health-conscious individuals nationwide, facilitating experience sharing, activity creation, and collaborative exercise participation to build a broader "exercise culture" across society.

Thueiwongse emphasized that the CCC initiative aligns with the ministry's role in advancing the national strategy, with a key target of ensuring 50% of Thai people exercise or play sports regularly by 2027. Achieving this goal requires coordinated effort from technology, data analytics, motivation systems, and collaboration among government, private sector, communities, and citizens.

The "Move Together Day: CCC Festival" serves not only as the launch of Phase 3 but also as a platform to translate the "Move Together" concept into action, offering the public and health networks opportunities to test new features, learn, share experiences, and collectively foster an exercise culture.

Man's Eerie Gas Station Dream in Kanchanaburi Goes Viral
31 Jul Khaosod

On July 31, 2026, a TikTok user @Look Market posted about a disturbing experience after sleeping at a PTT gas station in Kanchanaburi and having a bizarre dream. In the post, he described pulling over under a tree at the station before the M81 motorway entrance, sleeping for about an hour and a half around midnight. During his sleep, he dreamed that someone hired him to give them a ride for approximately 860 to 880 baht. He recalled telling them he could only take 2 passengers because his car was too small, but the moment he opened the door, 8 people mysteriously rushed in and sat down with eerie, unchanging smiles. The dreamer added that the passengers sat silently—3 in front (1 woman and 2 men) and 5 in the back—with every one of them grinning slightly and making no sound. After he drove back onto the motorway for about 5 kilometers, streetlights went out on two poles simultaneously, which frightened him further.

Following the post, commenters revealed that he was the third person to report the same type of dream at that location, with some mentioning they had even received lottery numbers and been advised to make merit. Local residents then shared historical context, explaining that the gas station is located in an area known as Ban Tung Samo, Ban Don Chedi, and Ban Nong Khao. This region was the site of the legendary Elephant Battle (Yodha Hatthi) between King Naresuan of Ayutthaya and the Burmese Crown Prince during the early-modern period, when Ayutthayan and Burmese soldiers clashed across a wide expanse that extends to where the gas station now stands. The area is home to three villages and contains the Don Chedi Monument dedicated to King Naresuan, a museum housing war weapons, swords, and ornaments related to war elephants, and a nearby monument that Naresuan built in honor of the Burmese Crown Prince, located about 500 meters from the Don Chedi Monument. Local belief holds that the spirits of fallen Ayutthayan and Burmese soldiers still linger in the area, waiting for their next rebirth. According to locals, the dreamer was fortunate to have encountered these soldier spirits in whatever form they appeared, and was considered blessed.
