Man Stabs Ex-Wife, Then Takes Own Life in Chanthaburi
A 42-year-old man fatally stabbed his ex-wife at a tea shop in Chanthaburi's Tha Mai district before taking his own life; the attack followed months of harassment after their separation.
On September 17, a 42-year-old man identified as Virachai attacked and fatally stabbed Janruya, age 40, his ex-wife of only one month, at a tea shop near Noen Suea traffic lights in Noen Suea market, Tha Mai district, Chanthaburi, around 10 a.m. He fled on a motorcycle before police discovered his body beneath a juniper tree in Mueang district, Chanthaburi.
Police investigation into the victim's sister revealed that Virachai and the deceased were formerly married and had one son together. After experiencing family problems, they agreed to separate roughly a month prior. The ex-wife rented a room and opened a water shop at Noen Suea market, but Virachai repeatedly visited and caused disturbances. On the morning of the incident, the sister warned that he would return, but by the time she learned of the attack, it was too late.
Reports indicate that Virachai posted messages on social media before the attack, venting about disputes with his ex-wife regarding finances and jealousy concerns.
