Mystery Man Found Strangled in Canal Near Pattaya
An unidentified Thai man was found strangled in a canal near Pattaya on July 31, with authorities estimating he had been dead for at least two days before discovery.
At 12:30 p.m. on July 31, 2569, rescue workers from Sawang Boributr Pattaya notified Bang Lamung Police Station of a body floating in a public canal in Soi Chai Prom Withi 1, Nong Prueao subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. Officers coordinated with the Chon Buri evidence examination unit to investigate the scene.
At the location, authorities found the body of a Thai man floating face-down near the canal bank. The corpse was dressed in black shorts and a long-sleeved shirt and had a rope tied around the neck, with signs of bloating suggesting death occurred at least two days earlier. No personal belongings or identification documents were found on the body.
Witnesses stated they heard villagers calling for help regarding a body in the water. A rescuer then ran approximately 200-300 meters and jumped into the canal to retrieve the rope before realizing it was a deceased person.
Police have documented the scene with photographs and notes. The body will be sent to the coroner to determine the actual cause of death and identify the victim. Authorities are asking anyone with information about missing relatives or who may recognize the deceased to contact Bang Lamung Police Station.
