Parliament Expels MP Rom Over Husband Remark
Thai parliament expelled Move Forward Party MP Rangsiman Rome after he referenced the husband of Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Zang Thaeng, alleging links to transnational grey activities. Suchada demanded he withdraw the remark, calling it baseless and damaging to her reputation, while Rangsiman insisted evidence would emerge and denied the comment was about gender. The exchange sparked a heated debate, with the deputy speaker urging him to retract his statement.
Parliament heated, MP Rom ejected after referring to 'husband of MP Suchada' allegedly linked to transnational grey zone. He fired back, calling it unmanly, accusing of baseless allegations, challenging to show evidence. On October 1, 2026 at the parliament, reporters said that while MP Rangsiman Rome, a list-MP from the People's Party, questioned Deputy Minister Chaiyanon Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), about details and progress regarding a case where someone offered a 40 million baht bribe to a minister, which Chaiyanon had linked to the People's Party MP from Samut Prakan allegedly involved in online gambling, Rangsiman then asked Chaiyanon: 'The Samut Prakan MP from the People's Party likely has no involvement; the minister must be mistaken. I confirm the People's Party welcomes investigation and does not protect anyone, but if you want to act fairly, you should investigate the MP from Chaiyaphum, a woman whose husband may be linked to scammers as an international crime.' This prompted MP Suchada Zang Thaeng of Chaiyaphum, from the Bhumjaithai Party, to rise and invoke her right to speak, saying: 'There is only one female MP from Chaiyaphum, and that is me. Rangsiman, you cannot speak vaguely; you must provide evidence. If you speak like this, just name me directly—it would be more manly.' She continued: 'I will not accept this; you must retract if you are a man, because you spoke directly about me. So when you speak, do not be vague, do not speak emotionally, you must have evidence, not stir people with emotion. It makes no sense to then mention me. I will not accept; you must retract if you are a man, because I am harmed.' Suchada spoke emotionally.
Rangsiman said: 'The point I raised, I told the minister that if you want to crack down, you should look at your own Northeastern MPs, especially the Chaiyaphum MP, particularly the female one. I do not deny saying that. If you want evidence, don’t worry, it will come soon.'
Suchada immediately replied: 'Go ahead and show it if you have evidence; don’t speak vaguely. I have already been harmed by your words. If you look up the information, you will find my name as the sole female MP from Chaiyaphum. It is not right for you to use your reputation to harm others. You must retract; I will not accept.'
Rangsiman then proposed to refer to the meeting rules to discuss whether he needed to present evidence now in the agenda where he posed the question to Chaiyanon. Suchada then objected regarding the rules, asking why he did not withdraw his statement.
Then Mullahika Jiraphanthuwanee, Deputy Speaker of the House, acting as chair, cut in: 'This matter causes harm, so I ask Rangsiman to withdraw his remark because there is only one female MP from Chaiyaphum, leading to misunderstanding. Since there is no evidence yet, please withdraw your statement.'
But Rangsiman responded: 'If you insist you are innocent, then clarify, but the evidence will certainly come. Whether I withdraw or not is not a matter of being manly; parliament should move past this; it has nothing to do with being a man or woman—everyone is equal.'
Suchada countered: 'It has already caused harm; I have no need to clarify, because there is no reason to think I am at fault and no evidence. You must examine yourself for accusing others without proof.'
Meanwhile, MP Kreer Prisananantakul of Ang Thong, from the Bhumjaithai Party, in his role as head of the government whip, rose to protest the chair’s handling of the meeting under the rules, saying that if there is mockery, sarcasm, or smearing others, it harms fellow members. He said his colleagues were truly harmed and he was shocked that Rangsiman brought up something unrelated to the question, causing harm to others.
