On July 21, 2025, at Bangkok Criminal Court on Ratchadamri Road, Piyarat Jongthep, a People's Party list MP, filed a countersuit with lawyer Nareseth Nahnongtoem against parties involved in creating false evidence used to accuse him of violating Article 112. The court has scheduled a preliminary hearing for October 19, 2025.
The original case began in October 2020 when an institution-supporting group sued, alleging Piyarat photographed the Grand Palace area and posted Article 112-violating content. The court dismissed that case on August 27, 2024, finding the plaintiff's evidence unconvincing.
Piyarat asserts he never posted the messages on the Facebook page cited by the plaintiff, and that during the time the evidence claims the posts were made, he was in police custody and unable to access communication devices. He moved to file this countersuit after learning the other side intended to appeal.
Piyarat stated his countersuit targets two defendant groups. The first comprises civilians allegedly comprising the institution-supporting group, against whom he filed charges of false reporting, fabricating evidence, document forgery, and using false documents. The second group consists of government officials—cyber crime investigators under the Technology Crime Suppression Division—whom he alleges improperly received and processed the fraudulent evidence, leading to charges filed with the court.
The defendants will be pursued individually, with charges against the civilian group separated and supplemented with Article 157 charges, requiring prosecution at the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct. The court has scheduled the preliminary hearing on October 19, 2025.
