Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul arrived at Nan Nakhon Airport on August 23, 2025, at 10:40 a.m. to oversee flood management in the Northern and Northeastern regions. Deputy Prime Minister Yos Chanan Wongswatdi, who has been coordinating relief efforts, briefed him on the situation. The Prime Minister then traveled to Nan Provincial Hall to chair a meeting on the flood response and recovery operations.
Anutin expressed his deepest condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives in the flooding disaster. He instructed all relevant agencies to provide comprehensive assistance to victims and the bereaved families. He praised Deputy Prime Minister Yos Chanan for his swift response and leadership in managing the crisis while Anutin was abroad, maintaining continuous coordination throughout.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the support of Defense Minister Anudom Boonthammajaroen, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Suryia Juengrungrueng, and Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary Jaichatchai Thaiserath. He noted that while the overall flood situation has improved, vigilance remains essential due to the ongoing rainy season and risks of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and mudslides in vulnerable areas.
Anutin issued directives to all provincial governors as incident commanders to accelerate relief, recovery, and rehabilitation efforts. These include deploying water pumps to flooded areas, restoring critical infrastructure such as homes, roads, bridges, electricity, water supplies, and hospitals, and conducting rapid damage assessments. The government will maintain resources on standby for continuous close monitoring of the situation.
