Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced on July 13 at Bangkok City Hall that his administration will collaborate closely with Governor Chadchart Sittipunt to enhance the lives of Bangkok residents. The government views Bangkok as crucial to national governance and pledges comprehensive support across multiple development initiatives.
Cooperation priorities include public safety, improved convenience, and reduced transportation costs by strengthening mass transit capacity, lowering BTS and bus fares, and establishing an integrated ticketing system. The government will coordinate with Bangkok on repurposing underutilized public land from entities like Thai Railways and the Expressway Authority to create community spaces, sports facilities, and opportunities for small vendors. Additional focus areas include flood prevention systems, air quality management, traffic solutions, and upgrades to the city's electricity and water infrastructure.
Deputy Prime Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn confirmed that the Integrated Ticketing Act and Rail Transport Act have been approved and are on track for implementation this year as a New Year benefit. Single-journey fares will range from 17 to 45 baht under the new system.
