Police Add False Report, Forgery Charges Against Atchariya
Police have added a new charge of false reporting and document forgery against Atchariya Ruangrattanaphong while he is detained in Bangkok Special Prison. He denies the allegations, but investigators say they have clear evidence that he forged a power of attorney and fabricated a story about paying a police officer for extortion. The case will proceed with further detention and prosecution.
The case continues; Atchariya faces an additional charge of false reporting and forgery. Police from Nang Loeng went to Bangkok Special Prison to file the new charges against Atchariya Ruangrattanaphong, who still denies them. According to reporters, on the afternoon of October 9, 2026, investigators from Nang Loeng Police Station entered the prison to add the allegations of false accusation to cause another to face criminal punishment, and forgery and use of forged documents. The original complaint, filed on August 11, 2026, accused a police lieutenant colonel of misconduct and extortion, claiming Atchariya had been authorized by someone and had handed over money in front of a restaurant, and he also gave a press interview outside the station. Investigation showed the power of attorney document was completely forged; the person he claimed gave him authority was not in Thailand, and that person's relatives later complained the signature was not genuine, proving the allegation false. Further inquiry found no truth to his claim of handing over money; the alleged incident reportedly took place in January 2025, while he used an authority document dated April 2026 to file the August 2026 complaint, revealing a suspicious time gap and other irregularities. Although Atchariya denies the charges, investigators say they have clear and sufficient evidence, and the next step will be to detain him for prosecution.
