National Police Spokesperson Deputy Police General Trairong Phiwphan revealed on August 3, 2026, that Police General Kittiwat Panthoetchai, the national police chief, has ordered an urgent investigation following allegations made in a television program. The wife of one suspect in the murder case of two Russian siblings stated that the suspect had obtained drugs from a relative who is a police officer at Huai Yai Station in Chachoengsao, claiming the officer said he would sell all his inventory to buy gold jewelry for his wife. Chachoengsao police have denied involvement in any such matter.
In response, the national police chief has ordered the immediate investigation of the facts reported in media to determine whether the allegations have merit. If substantiated, decisive legal action—both disciplinary and criminal—will be pursued without delay. Officers have been instructed to seize the accused officer's mobile phone for expedited forensic examination to gather evidence. If evidence is found, the case will proceed through legal channels, and any other officers implicated will face equally decisive action. The police chief has confirmed that the Royal Thai Police will not shield such officers under any circumstances.
Simultaneously, the national police chief has directed Region 2 Provincial Police to investigate all allegations made in the television program, including detailed interviews with victims who provided information. The police are also examining the statute of limitations on the alleged drug trafficking offenses, which remain within the prosecution window. Investigators are gathering evidence and will pursue charges against any individuals implicated, without exception. The National Police Office is also reviewing the pardon process and prisoner transfer procedures with the Department of Corrections to identify weaknesses and prevent similar issues in the future. The police chief has reaffirmed that any officer found to be involved in misconduct will face strict disciplinary and criminal proceedings in line with the national police chief's policy.
