Police Hunt Gunman in Doctor's Killing at Dinner Table

Police are accelerating their investigation into the fatal shooting of Chakkakrit, known as Doctor Boy (surname withheld), 40, who died while socializing with friends behind a residential building in Phanang Tung subdistrict, Khuan Karun district, Phatthalung province, in the early hours of September 25, 2569. Colonel Rangsi Manjit, superintendent of Thaleh Noi police station, along with forensic officers, an EOD unit, criminal investigation officers from Thaleh Noi station, and a Provincial Police investigative team, returned to the scene to conduct additional forensic examinations and evidence collection.

Investigators identified a suspected firing position in a forested area approximately 30 meters from where the victim was seated. After the shooting, the gunman is believed to have escaped on foot through a forest border path toward the rear of the house, connecting to village roads and a main highway. Police are conducting a detailed examination of the escape route and preliminarily believe the suspect may be familiar with the area or had reconnoitered the terrain before the attack, though this remains under investigation.

Colonel Rangsi stated that current investigative focus centers on personal disputes unrelated to politics. Authorities will examine the victim's history of complaints or legal proceedings and cross-check whether the victim had filed complaints against any individuals. Preliminary findings indicate Chakkakrit was well-known in the community, and the weapon used is suspected to be a .22 caliber firearm, pending detailed forensic analysis.

Local residents described the victim as a generous community helper who assisted with road development, aided those in distress, and contributed to funeral ceremonies, making him well-liked and widely known. However, residents stated they were unaware of any conflicts or disputes the victim may have had outside the area, given his wide social network.

The body has been sent for forensic examination at Songkhla Nakarin Hospital in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province. After relatives claim the body this evening, it will be brought to the family residence for merit-making ceremonies. Police continue to gather evidence from the crime scene, escape routes, and information regarding the victim's relationships and conflicts to identify and prosecute the perpetrator.
