Police Narrow Focus in Former PM's Nephew Murder Case
Police are narrowing their investigation into the murder of a former PM's nephew shot in Samut Sakhon on July 4, with investigators exploring personal motives alongside institutional factors while emphasizing the killer's premeditation.
Investigators are narrowing their focus in the killing of Phakaphumi (Noi), 34, who was shot multiple times and killed around 9 p.m. on July 4th beneath an apartment building in Moo 13, Om Noi subdistrict, Krathumbaen district, Samut Sakhon.
On July 6th, Region 7 Police Commander Pisit Tanprasert assigned Deputy Commander Chomchawin Puradhananont to chair a case progress meeting at Krathumbaen Police Station, attended by senior officers and investigators.
Chomchawin stated the case has made considerable headway with several investigative leads. While institutional factors have been mentioned in media reports and remain one line of inquiry, police have not ruled out other angles, still believing the motive stems from the victim's personal affairs. The perpetrator's actions show careful planning.
Police emphasized their full-time commitment to the investigation within tight time constraints. The institutional angle represents only one of two to three primary theories under examination. Other leads continue to be pursued simultaneously, though details cannot be disclosed as this would compromise the investigation and officer safety.
Regarding the victim's previous report of suspicious strangers lurking nearby, police have already gathered substantial information on this matter but cannot yet reveal it publicly. All potential leads are being investigated and cross-examined to establish facts before determining which angles warrant continued pursuit and which should be discounted. A dedicated task room has been established for daily case monitoring.
