Police Seek DNA Evidence in Young Woman's Mysterious Death
A 24-year-old woman found dead in a Udon Thani rental room with an electrical cord around her neck is suspected to have been murdered, with police collecting DNA evidence and investigating drag marks at the scene.
Police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman named Pim found naked in a rental room with an electrical cord around her neck in Ban Leum subdistrict, Udon Thani city on September 16. Investigators suspect homicide due to several suspicious findings at the scene.
At Mueang Udon Thani police station, officers have collected DNA samples from the victim's close friends and the couple living in the adjacent room as part of evidence-gathering procedures. No suspects have been identified yet. Colonel Pattanawong Chanthraphon, commander of Mueang Udon Thani police station, revealed that the electrical cord used was connected to a three-pronged outlet. Drag marks found in the room have been collected for examination, and evidence suggests the death is unlikely to be self-inflicted, though the exact cause and responsible party cannot yet be determined. Towels found in the room are also being tested.
The victim's adoptive father, Prayut (surname withheld), 41, said that on September 12 his daughter messaged asking to borrow 500 baht, sending a photo from a hospital where she was receiving treatment for an inherited thyroid condition. Her final message was "I miss mom and dad. I want to go home." He emphasized his daughter was cheerful, worked diligently to save money, and had no reason to harm herself. He has raised her since age 10 and urges police to find the perpetrator.
Her biological father, Khom, 51, a rubber tapper in Buriram province, expressed shock upon hearing the news. He stated his daughter was loved by the entire family and was a hardworking, resilient person who supported herself. He believes she would never commit suicide and demands a thorough police investigation.
Her mother, Nang, 45, remains tearful and confident that her daughter would never harm herself, describing her as diligent and devoted to helping the family. She has called on police to urgently clarify the facts and prosecute anyone involved.
Police continue interviewing witnesses, reviewing security footage, collecting DNA and physical evidence from the scene, and awaiting autopsy results from Srinakarin Hospital in Khon Kaen province. The investigation remains ongoing with no suspects identified.
