Universities Unite for Youth Showcase at Siam Square

On September 16, 2026, the Conference of Rectors of Thailand partnered with Siam Square, managed by PMCU (Chulalongkorn University Property Management Office), and universities nationwide to open a downtown venue celebrating National Youth Day with the 'Siam Youth Square' event from September 18–20, 2026 at Siam Square Walking Street. The event invites youth from across Thailand to demonstrate their potential, abilities, and creative power in diverse formats under the concept 'The Street Is Your Stage.'

This collaboration links university networks nationwide with a central public space, giving students and young people from various regions the chance to move beyond campus into a real venue at Siam Square, while allowing people and tourists to experience the capabilities of Thai youth from the entire country. Professor Wilert Puriwat, chairman of the Conference of Rectors of Thailand and rector of Chulalongkorn University, stated that Siam Square is becoming a Youth Square not just for Bangkok youth, but for young people across the nation. We want to create opportunities for students and the younger generation from every region to bring their talents, identity, and creative thinking to a downtown stage, while visitors and tourists will witness the potential and diversity of Thai youth nationwide.

More than 20 universities nationwide joined forces to showcase Thai youth power in the heart of Siam for the first time. For this event, the Conference of Rectors partnered with Siam Square to provide space for bands from universities nationwide, including CU Band and the Faculty of Education Band from Chulalongkorn University, Bangpo Jai band from Mahidol University, KU Band from Kasetsart University, Hews from Silpakorn University, Makok Sunnart band from Srinakharinwirot University, Naresuan Wind Ensemble from Naresuan University, Singkai Fusion Cultural Band from Ubon Ratchathani University, Diminish from Phayao University, Heartix from Suan Dusit University, NMU Band from Navamindradhiraj University, STIN Band from Sriswirinda School of Nursing under the Thai Red Cross Society, the Thai Music band from Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology, and Akru 137 from Kalyaniwattana School of Music to perform and share the identity and culture of each region through music.

Throughout the Walking Street, a free University Market space is available for students from universities nationwide to sell products, designs, and creative works, offering another chance to develop creative ideas into business experience. The initiative also develops the Walking Street with three distinct performance stages, moving from busking to street performance. Siam Square partnered with experts and communities to transform the area into a unique street performance destination that attracts both Thai people and tourists, similar to walking streets in major cities worldwide. 'Siam Birth,' a collaboration between Siam Square and Yamaha Music, opens a 'first stage' for talented youth, providing instruments and equipment to remove cost barriers to performance, followed by the 'Siam Rising Stage' managed by AIS Siam as a 'development stage' offering opportunities for artists and performers.
