Prime Minister's Youth Cup Opens Path for Thai Youth Dreams
Coach Thawatthai Damrong-ongtrakul says the Prime Minister’s Youth Cup football tournament offers Thai youth a clear pathway from grassroots to professional football. The 2026/2027 season competition, open for registration until October 31, 2026, includes U14, U16, and U18 age groups and aims to develop talent nationwide. He urges schools, academies, and parents to support participation to help raise the standard of Thai football.
Coach Thawatthai Damrong-ongtrakul, head coach of the Thailand U23 national team, said the tournament is a crucial opportunity for children and teenagers of various age groups to showcase their skills and improve their play. He described the Prime Minister’s Youth Cup as a deep‑rooted competition that reaches down to the district level, widening opportunities for players. With three age categories—U14, U16, and U18—the event lets young athletes test their abilities, learn from mistakes, and develop for the future. He added that match experience helps players grow, handle pressure, and learn from errors, which raises their quality and benefits youth national teams, professional clubs, and academies. Having many teams participate spreads football across the country, preventing talent from being concentrated in just a few academies. He invited schools, academies, and parents to support children’s participation, calling the tournament a valuable chance to nurture the next generation of quality Thai footballers. Applications for the Prime Minister’s Youth Cup are open now through October 31, 2026 at pmycfootball.in.th, and fans can follow the matches via the Football Association of Thailand and Thai Youth Football Facebook pages.
