Retired Teacher Crashes Truck While Drunk, Police Find Guns and Drugs
A 65-year-old retired teacher crashed his pickup truck into a power pole in Udon Thani while heavily intoxicated, and police discovered two firearms and methamphetamine in the vehicle during a search.
Udon Thani traffic police responded to a report of a black pickup truck that had lost control, hit a power pole, and landed in the roadside ditch at 5:15 p.m. on September 6. The driver, a 65-year-old retired civil servant and teacher, was found in a heavily intoxicated state, incoherent and visibly agitated. Officers carefully removed him from the wreckage.
A search of the vehicle uncovered two firearms with ammunition hidden inside, plus one methamphetamine tablet in his shoulder bag. The man was taken into custody along with the seized items for investigation and drug testing.
Initial investigation revealed that officers had been alerted to a reckless black pickup truck. Traffic police officer Charoen Chantharak responded and observed the vehicle speeding before it veered off the road, lost control, and crashed hard into the power pole. The suspect is being held in custody pending interrogation. Once he regains full consciousness, he will be formally questioned and charged according to law.
