A soccer player in Thailand discovered a young cobra in his motorcycle's headlight on July 14, prompting him and others to use the bike's license plate number in lottery tickets based on beliefs that snakes bring good fortune.

A soccer player riding his motorcycle home was startled when a young cobra suddenly emerged from the headlight compartment. He quickly stopped and called emergency responders for help, believing the snake encounter brought good luck just one day before the government lottery draw. Many people then noted his motorcycle license plate number to try their luck. On July 15, 2569, officials from Putai Sawan Foundation reported that at 10 p.m. on July 14, they received a call about a motorcycle accident with injuries on Rojana Road near the Ayutthaya elevated bridge in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. When they arrived, no accident was found, but they discovered a motorcycle parked at a repair shop where the owner and mechanic were disassembling the front fender and headlight after finding a snake inside.

Upon investigation, motorcycle owner Chokun, 31, explained that he had ridden his motorcycle (license plate 1กญ6898) to play soccer at a local field. While driving home near the accident location, a snake suddenly crawled out of the headlight. Although startled and nearly reaching the dashboard, he continued riding to a safe location due to traffic behind him, then stopped to inspect the bike. A passing motorcycle mechanic helped take the bike to his shop and disassemble the front components to locate the snake. Foundation officials arrived and quickly found a young cobra, approximately 50 centimeters long, hiding in the headlight. They safely captured and released it back into nature.

Chokun, who normally fears snakes, admitted that the incident occurred just one day before the lottery draw. Based on Thai beliefs about snakes bringing good fortune, he decided to buy a lottery ticket using the numbers 98 from his license plate. Foundation officer Naphatthorn Srichati explained that they initially received a report of a motorcycle crash with injuries but discovered it was actually a snake that had crawled into the vehicle. After successfully locating and removing the snake, they released it safely back to nature.

Following the incident, the repair shop owner and others present discussed Thai beliefs that encountering a snake near the lottery draw might be a sign of good luck, prompting many people to note the motorcycle's license plate number to play the lottery according to their personal beliefs.

Kamphaeng Phet — The funeral of Kanokthip Srisuk, known as "Amp," 31, who died in the Ladphrao beer hall fire, took place amid deep sorrow. Her mother Jamreang Guanthong, along with relatives and her boyfriend, waited to receive the body from the Police Hospital's forensic institute with great anticipation. At 4:47 p.m., rescue volunteers transferred Amp's body to a van and brought it back to her home in Thung Sanuun Sub-District, Bueng Samakkhi District, Kamphaeng Phet, as the family struggled with their sudden loss. When the procession arrived at the home, relatives and neighbors gathered to pay respects. Her grandmother performed a ritual to call her granddaughter's spirit home one last time, amid deep grief.

The family has scheduled a water-sprinkling ceremony for Wednesday morning, July 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. However, the family remains deeply concerned about the case's progress and compensation from the responsible party, fearing they may not receive justice. Somkuai Prawet, 67, Amp's grandmother, tearfully revealed that Amp was the family's pillar—a hardworking and patient daughter who earned money to pay off debts. She was well-behaved and rarely went out, so the family never expected her life to end this way. The grandmother called on the pub owner to take responsibility, as the family is poor and has lost their sole breadwinner, leaving them in financial hardship and without support.

Naresh Chanaoin, 30, the deceased's boyfriend, denied reports that they had quarreled before the incident, insisting it was untrue. He said he was unaware his girlfriend was out with coworkers until he was informed of the fire in the middle of the night. He retrieved her bag immediately upon arriving at the scene, but has been unable to contact the friends who were with her that evening. He maintained his innocence and stated there was no conflict between them before the tragedy.

Band Members Mourn Breese, Singer Killed in Bar Fire

The lead singer of Thai band Doskanat died in a bar fire on Ladprao Road; bandmates and family held a Buddhist memorial ceremony for 33-year-old Nanthai 'Breese' Sajjaleot at a temple in Samut Prakan on July 15.

On July 15, relatives held a water-pouring ritual for Nanthai 'Breese' Sajjaleot, 33, lead singer of the band Doskanat and victim of a bar fire on Ladprao Road, at Eiam Prachamit Temple in Samut Prakan's Lam Fa Pha subdistrict. Her body was brought from the Police Hospital Forensic Medicine Institute. Bandmates, friends, and relatives gathered to pay respects in a solemn atmosphere. Band leader Athipat 'Ice' Vicharanno, who was her boyfriend, wept alongside fellow musicians and relatives who came from Roi Et province. A Buddhist chanting ceremony was held at 6:30 p.m.

Breese's father, Luang Pho Rattan Sajjaleot, 57, said Breese was his second daughter among two siblings. She initially sang as a hobby but turned professional about a year ago when she joined Doskanat, whose owner is her boyfriend. He received the news around 1 a.m. on the night of the incident while meditating at a temple. He felt shocked and disturbed, though he had a premonition around 11 p.m. when he felt anxious and restless—unusual for him, as he normally sits in meditation before sleeping without sudden jolts.

He had last chatted with Breese mid-year, describing her as a cheerful, sociable person who loved friends and family. Raised by a single father from age 3 or 4 while he worked, she was cared for by her grandparents and aunts and uncles. Kantaphattarak Lipsuwanpong, 33, a male singer, and Nityaa Saisaw, 32, a female singer who were with Breese that night and survived, said they had been in the band for 10 years and 2-3 years respectively. Breese was the girlfriend of the band leader. They described Breese as saying goodbye-like things to others before the incident—telling customers they would not see her sing again, and telling her fellow female singer to remember her image because she would not be seen again. The survivors said the fire happened so suddenly there was no time to react.

On July 15, Police Lieutenant Rutthathon Sittianon of Khlong Udom Chon Sub-district Police Patrol, Mueang Chachoengsao Station, received a report of an assault at a glass factory alongside Pong Phon Soi in Mueang District, Chachoengsao Province. The injured man fled by motorcycle to a nearby resort for help. Police coordinated with rescue personnel and found the victim, 35-year-old Nathphong Kachahoy, with a severe head wound bleeding heavily. He was given first aid and taken to Kasemrad Hospital.

The victim explained that during his lunch break, he called his girlfriend at the lodging but she didn't answer. Concerned, he rushed back and found his girlfriend, her female friend, and two young men gathered in his room. Realizing the two men were trying to court his girlfriend's friend and not wanting inappropriate behavior in his room, he warned them to leave since he had to return to work. This angered Phairojon, who nearly attacked him with a wooden stick, but the incident was prevented when he left for work.

That evening after work, he returned to find the same group still there. He complained to his girlfriend about allowing them to stay all day. As he rode away from the room, the two brothers—Phairojon and Pheera—followed and attacked him. Phairojon struck him multiple times on the head with a steel pipe while Pheera kicked and punched him until he lost consciousness. When he came to, he fled to a nearby resort for help.

The victim stated the conflict began at noon when he called and found the two men in his room trying to court his girlfriend's friend. After warning them to leave, the incident subsided, but when he returned that evening to find them still there and complained again, Phairojon became angry. When the victim rode off, the brothers followed and attacked him without provocation. Elderly Man Rescued as Fire Destroys Nakhon Nayok Home

Elderly Man Rescued as Fire Destroys Nakhon Nayok Home
1d ago Khaosod

A two-story wooden house with a concrete ground floor caught fire in a narrow alley beside Krung Thai Bank's Nakhon Nayok branch on July 15. The fire was reported by Ketkhaew Praphasiri, the homeowner's daughter, who witnessed the incident. Firefighting teams from Nakhon Nayok Municipality faced access challenges due to the narrow soi but managed to spray water on the fierce blaze on the second floor. Backup water trucks from nearby sub-districts assisted in containing the fire around the perimeter, successfully extinguishing it after approximately 30 minutes.

Ketkhaew reported hearing an explosion-like sound from the electrical pole inside the house, which had malfunctioned previously. She saw flames at the top of the pole followed by multiple popping sounds and thick smoke. Her 94-year-old father was safely brought outside. Wooden teak cabinets and furniture were destroyed in the fire.

Electricity workers from Nakhon Nayok Province investigated the scene and cut power to prevent hazards. They suspect the fire was caused by electrical short-circuiting inside the house, with current flowing back to the connection point at the electrical pole, evidenced by scorch marks. Upon inspection, officials found multiple extension cords connected at the pole, which is not standard practice. Proper installation would route the main line directly to the house breaker. The unstable electrical configuration at the pole connection point likely caused the electrical fault.

Police Region 2 revealed that the sister of beer bar owner Suwichai has been called in for questioning and provided lease agreements and business licenses to investigators. The death toll now stands at 31, with 30 victims identified and one still being confirmed. So far, 28 bodies have been returned to families, and 30 families have provided DNA samples for identification. Among the injured, 24 are in critical condition, 12 are seriously injured, and 40 have minor injuries.

Investigators have interviewed 51 witnesses to date, including the bar owner and 16 staff members, along with 32 family members of the deceased and injured, plus two officials who inspected the scene. Tomorrow, experts in building structure and electrical systems will be questioned, while investigators continue gathering evidence including CCTV footage and statements from all injured persons.

Regarding claims that the emergency exit was locked from outside, police say preliminary witness statements from two people—a bar employee and a candy seller—are inconclusive and require corroboration from other evidence. Police also revealed they are investigating a man dressed as an official who gave media interviews about the fire, checking whether he was impersonating a government officer. Authorities confirmed that their primary focus remains on the cause of the fire and the loss of life. Six motorcycles and one car left at the scene are awaiting collection by their owners at Phahonyothin Police Station.
