Srettha Pushes Milk Purchases to Aid Dairy Farmers and Feed Vulnerable Children
Former PM Srettha Thavisin's foundation purchased surplus dairy milk to support struggling farmers while delivering nutrition to vulnerable children and disabled youth at care facilities in Nonthaburi province.
On September 24, former Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, founder of the Sermsukha Foundation, moved forward with social welfare initiatives by purchasing agricultural products to urgently assist farmers. The Thai Dairy Promotion Organization had requested help after Thai dairy farmers encountered a raw milk surplus crisis. The milk will be delivered to the Phayathai Infant Care Home and the Nonthaburi Disability Protection and Development Center in Nonthaburi province to provide good nutrition for children, with Social Development and Human Security Minister Nikom Somklang representing the government in receiving the donation.
Srettha stated this continues the foundation's ongoing social assistance efforts, building on previous large-scale milk purchases delivered to charities, care facilities, early childhood development centers, schools, and underserved areas in Bangkok, its surroundings, and Ratchaburi province—Thailand's first pilot province for the Ratchaburi Zero Dropout project. He emphasized that beyond helping dairy farmers escape the milk surplus crisis, these actions support vulnerable groups including children, youth, and people with disabilities to receive quality nutrition sustainably.
Srettha also noted that during his recent visit to both facilities, he observed that technology will become crucial for human development and life skills. He called for organizations to support computer access to enhance children's learning. The Nonthaburi Disability Protection and Development Center houses many disabled children who need an average of three diapers per day per person, creating a shortfall. He asked the Social Development Ministry to survey what types and sizes are needed.
Srettha added that within October, the Sermsukha Foundation will provide vocational training for people with disabilities to create a market for this workforce in major private companies. He noted that Sansiri itself employs people with disabilities in genuine working roles, beginning by discussing and understanding what they truly want to do—not simply hiring them to make the company look good. The goal is to help them develop skills for long-term self-sufficiency.
"Although my political role has changed, my commitment to driving social progress has never wavered. I affirm that continuity is essential," Srettha said. "I will bring my experience and determination to ongoing social work through the Sermsukha Foundation I co-founded, with key goals of promoting and supporting education, health, sports, and improving quality of life for disadvantaged children and youth throughout Thailand. The foundation will serve as a bridge connecting business, partner networks, and those ready to collaborate on solving social problems tangibly, reflecting genuine intent to create positive change for Thai society long-term."
