Thai Badminton Star Withdraws From Asian Games Singles
Thailand's top-ranked badminton player Ikkyu Panichpol withdrew from the Asian Games singles competition after sustaining a back injury during the team event, citing insufficient recovery time.
Ikkyu Panichpol, Thailand's world-ranked 17th men's singles badminton player, has withdrawn from the 20th Asian Games singles competition due to injury. The 22-year-old sustained a back injury during the men's team event and retired from his match against the Indonesian national team. In a social media post, Ikkyu confirmed the withdrawal, stating his back injury has not recovered sufficiently. He wrote: "My coach, team, and I have decided to withdraw from this Asian Games due to a back injury sustained during the team event. With only 2-3 days remaining before the singles competition, I tried until the last moment to recover and compete, but I cannot do so at 100 percent fitness. I decided to withdraw to avoid further injury. I apologize to everyone who has supported me, and I will recover quickly to serve my country again."
