Thai PM Anutin Meets Australian Leader Anthony Albanese
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese in Canberra, signing agreements on transnational crime and economic engagement while bringing Thai business leaders to explore bilateral opportunities.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by his wife and senior Thai officials, is on an official visit to Canberra, with the day's activities focused on deepening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. At 9:00 a.m., the Prime Minister and his wife attended a formal reception at Parliament House, where Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese gave them a warm welcome, complete with a 19-gun salute and an honor guard inspection. At 9:50 a.m., the two leaders held full bilateral discussions in the Cabinet Room before witnessing the signing of two important agreements: a Joint Statement on Transnational Crime and a Leaders' Statement on Deepening Economic Engagement, followed by a joint press conference at Prime Minister's Courtyard. The Prime Minister also met separately with Australian Opposition Leader Angus Taylor. Additionally, Anutin brought 14 Thai business executives from 9 companies to meet the Australian Prime Minister, representing organizations including RATCH Australia, Supalai, Thai Beverage, B.Grimm Power, Baan Phu, Central Group, Frasers Property, Minor International, and PTT. In the afternoon at 1:15 p.m., the Prime Minister and delegation visited Government House to pay respects to Governor-General Sam Mostyn, and at 2:20 p.m. participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at a memorial.
