Thai Team Aims for Flag Record With Skydive Over Pattaya
SuperToom and the ONE FLAG THAILAND team plan to set a new world record by unfurling a 448‑square‑metre Thai flag while skydiving over Pattaya on Dec 5, 2026. The announcement was made at a press conference in Bangkok, with support from Pattaya city officials, Siriraj Hospital and various sponsors. The event aims to promote national unity and raise Pattaya’s profile as a sport‑city destination.
On Oct 14, at Siam Paragon in Bangkok, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thom Bovon Sirikunakul, known as 'SuperToom', director of the ONE FLAG THAILAND project, announced the initiative alongside Pattaya Mayor Promet Ngamphisut, Prof. Dr. Kirati Charoenchanawanich of Siriraj Hospital, and partner organizations. They unveiled plans to break the world record for the largest Thai flag by unfurling a 448‑square‑metre tricolour while skydiving over Pattaya Beach on Dec 5, 2026. The team, which includes five experienced skydivers, previously set a record with a 399.77‑metre flag in October, surpassing the former US record of 297.29 square metres. International record‑keeping experts Paul‑Henry Alexandre de Baere and Nadezhda Solovyeva will oversee the attempt. SuperToom said the jump aims to foster national unity and pride, inviting the public to sing the national anthem together as the flag waves. Pattaya’s mayor said the event supports the city’s sport‑city image, while Siriraj Hospital pledged medical support and fundraising for operating rooms. The public is invited to cheer the team and join in singing the anthem from 4 to 6 p.m. on Dec 5 at Pattaya Beach.
