Thailand Releases Limited SEA Games 33 Commemorative Coins
Thailand is minting limited 20-baht commemorative coins featuring the royal couple to mark the 33rd Southeast Asian Games hosting the country in December 2026, with no more than 200,000 pieces available for purchase through Treasury offices
The Thai Treasury Department, under the Ministry of Finance, is issuing 20-baht commemorative coins for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, which Thailand is hosting from December 9-20, 2026. Treasury Director-General Akkhrutham Santhyanon announced that the coins are being minted as a tribute to the Thai monarchy and to promote Thailand internationally to athletes and tourists attending the biennial regional sports competition, which operates under the Southeast Asian Games Federation and International Olympic Committee oversight.
The coins are made of nickel-copper alloy, measure 32 millimeters in diameter, weigh 15 grams, and are limited to no more than 200,000 pieces. The obverse features portraits of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida in formal dress, with their names inscribed along the lower rim. The reverse displays the official SEA Games 33 emblem, with text reading "33rd Southeast Asian Games" on the upper rim and "9–20 December 2026, Thailand" on the lower rim, along with the denomination "20" and the word "Baht."
Exchanges began September 7, 2026, through three central offices in Pathum Thani and Bangkok, 76 regional Treasury offices throughout the country, and online via www.treasury.go.th and the free TRD e-Commerce mobile app (iOS and Android). Orders placed online are delivered by postal mail, with shipping costs borne by the purchaser.
