Thailand to Auction 12 Masterworks by Thai Artists
Thailand's Department of Intellectual Property will auction 12 masterworks by Thai artists on August 16, 2026 at Cloud 11, with starting bids ranging from 100,000 to 700,000 baht to support emerging and established creators.
The Department of Intellectual Property has unveiled a curated list of outstanding artworks by Thai artists for auction at Art Universe 2026 on Sunday, August 16 at Cloud 11. Department director Armon Suaptwitdharm said the event aims to promote Thai artists, especially emerging talent, by providing a platform to showcase their work, leverage intellectual property to increase commercial value, and network with collectors, entrepreneurs, and investors while opening doors to international opportunities.
The exhibition features around 300 artworks and panel discussions highlighting the importance of copyright protection in preserving and creating value for creative works. Numerous workshops are also being held, with strong attendance. The event runs through August 16, 2026 at Cloud 11.
The final day highlights a major auction of 12 masterpieces by renowned and emerging artists that collectors and art lovers should not miss. Owning these works supports artists in receiving fair compensation for their copyrighted creations. Registration for the auction runs from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., with bidding from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Auction highlights include "Wild Boar," a Chinese ink painting by Thawai Datchni, featuring bold brushwork suggesting movement and power, with a starting bid of 650,000 baht; "With Love and Bond" by Tawi Ratchnikorn, exploring deep emotional connection through distinctive visual language, starting at 150,000 baht; and "Song of Three-String Saw," a glass print by Chakraphan Posayakrit capturing Thai dance and ideal femininity, starting at 700,000 baht.
Other works include "Suphannahongsa Royal Barge" by Chalerm Nakirak, depicting the ornate barge against Thai architecture (350,000 baht start); "Orchid," an oil painting by Lawan Oopointr showcasing golden flowers in gentle, naturalistic style (120,000 baht start); and "Crybaby The White Head," a sculpture by artist Molly that generated significant collector interest when first shown in 2023 (100,000 baht start).
Additional works by participating artists include "God" by Chalemchai Khositpipat (200,000 baht start), "Some Moments Are Best Shared Offline" by Suntur (700,000 baht start), "Embraced" by Mackcha (300,000 baht start), "Green(Dog)Conversation" by Karms (350,000 baht start), and "Winged Man" by Teerapon Sisung.
