Thailand Volleyball Captain Still Amazed by Olympic Qualification
Thailand's women's volleyball captain Pornprom Khoetpreecha says she's still overwhelmed after the team's historic qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, achieved by defeating China at the Asian Championship.
Pornprom Khoetpreecha, captain of the Thai national women's volleyball team, admitted she is still overwhelmed by the team's historic Olympic qualification. The Thai women's volleyball team defeated China in the final of the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship and made history by securing qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics for the first time.
On September 3, Pornprom revealed that not only the volleyball fans are still unable to move on from the Olympic ticket achievement—she herself cannot either. "I don't know when I should stop being happy. Do I have to stay happy until we get to LA?" she said, reflecting on the pride of the past two days.
Pornprom emphasized that while the team is now Asian champion, the next target is the upcoming Asian Games. "The competition has changed in name only, but the players and team remain the same. We believe we can bring medals back to Thai volleyball fans. Everyone is ready to give everything at the Asian Games," she stated.
Coach Kiatphong Ratchtagreangkai will lead the Thai women's volleyball team for a training camp in Saga, Japan, from September 4-13, before competing at the Asian Games between September 16-22. The team will depart on September 4 on Thai Airways flight TG648 at 00:40 and return to Thailand on September 23 on flight TG645 at 15:00 Bangkok time.
