TO BE NUMBER ONE Launches Teen DancerCise Championship 2027
On October 6, 2026, Bangkok’s Department of Mental Health and the TO BE NUMBER ONE project launched the Teen DancerCise Thailand Championship 2027, inviting youth to compete for a royal trophy from Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya. The initiative aims to promote physical fitness, mental well‑being, leadership, and drug‑free values through dance‑based exercise. Teams of 12‑20 participants will compete in three age groups, with the event emphasizing personal development over mere victory.
On October 6, 2026, at MCC Hall, The Mall Lifestore Bangkapi, Bangkok, the Department of Mental Health, Ministry of Public Health, and the TO BE NUMBER ONE project held a press conference to launch the TO BE NUMBER ONE Teen DancerCise Thailand Championship 2027, inviting youth to compete for a royal trophy from Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Srivadhanabandu. Dr. Jumphon Promsida, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Mental Health, said that, as the department, they had received royal grace to act as the project’s secretary since 2002, working to integrate relevant agencies to develop youth physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially through creative activities that foster self‑esteem, leadership, courage to think, act, and express themselves appropriately, volunteerism, and the value of being drug‑free. He added that the Teen DancerCise competition is an activity under the project, inspired by the princess’s vision that youth enjoy dancing and view skilled dancers as cool and interesting, and that DancerCise combines exercise with fun games to build strong bodies and good mental health, giving participants pride, confidence, and wise use of time. Follow‑up studies show the activity leaves a lasting, positive impression on youth, building psychological resilience that helps them grow into quality adults. The championship, running for over 25 years, focuses not only on winning but on developing teamwork, creativity, physical fitness, appropriate expression, enjoyment, and healthy exercise as learning‑by‑doing experiences. Mom Luang Yupadee Sirivarin, advisor to the TO BE NUMBER ONE project and secretary of its foundation, explained that the 2027 competition will have teams of 12 to 20 members divided into three age groups based on age as of October 1, 2026: Junior (6‑9 years) performing a three‑minute routine, Pre‑Teenage (9‑14 years) a four‑minute routine, and Teenage (details omitted in source).
