Man Steals Truck, Triggers Three-Vehicle Crash Across Provinces

Man Steals Truck, Triggers Three-Vehicle Crash Across Provinces
30 Jul Khaosod

A shocking collision erupted on a major highway when a man in an impaired state climbed into a wooden pallet truck that had been left running at the roadside. He sped away across more than 40 kilometers before losing control and crashing violently into two other trucks. The cab of the stolen vehicle was torn from its chassis and hurled into a roadside ditch; debris scattered across the road. Emergency responders rushed all three drivers to hospital with crush injuries.

The incident occurred at 1:50 p.m. on July 30, 2025, along Asia Highway 41 northbound near kilometer marker 92/600 in Suan Taeng subdistrict, La-Ngu district, Chumphon province. Investigators from La-Ngu Police Station found a chaotic scene with three trucks destroyed and parts blocking traffic.

The first vehicle, a white Hino palm oil truck registered in Surat Thani, was hit so hard that the cab separated from the chassis and flew into a drainage ditch. The second, a white Hino car-carrier truck with Bangkok registration, flipped upside down in the ditch; its trailer broke free and sank into the water. The third, a white Isuzu wooden pallet truck registered in Nakhon Sawan, was the one stolen; its cab lodged in the left ditch.

The three injured drivers—32-year-old Kiattisak, 55-year-old Bunchuan, and 27-year-old Nattanon—were rushed to La-Ngu Hospital with broken ribs and trauma from the impacts.

Police determined that the pallet truck had been parked for a meal break in Tha Chon district, Surat Thani, with the keys left in the ignition by its driver. The suspect, Nattanon, who was in an altered mental state, spotted the opportunity, started the engine, and fled northward at speed. After driving over 40 kilometers into La-Ngu district, Chumphon, he lost control and collided head-on with the two trucks. The impact was severe enough to tear apart the vehicles and scatter wreckage across the highway.

Investigators documented the scene, sketched a collision diagram, and impounded all three vehicles at La-Ngu Police Station. A preliminary urine test for drugs came back negative, but police have ordered a detailed blood alcohol test. Charges are pending once the suspect recovers from his injuries.

Terminal Patients Fear Loss of Quality Life, Not Death

Terminally ill patients fear not death but loss of quality life, pain, and becoming a burden on family, a Chiang Mai University palliative care physician reveals. Open conversations about end-of-life care preferences while patients can stil

Terminal Patients Fear Loss of Quality Life, Not Death
30 Jul Khaosod

A physician at Chiang Mai University reveals common concerns voiced by terminally ill patients: they do not fear death or longevity itself, but rather the quality of life remaining to them. Dr. Thawalthorn Rattanasiri, an instructor in palliative care at the Department of Family Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, shared insights from her team's experience caring for end-of-life patients. Rather than seeking a cure, most patients express deep anxiety about pain, bed confinement, loss of independence, and becoming a burden on loved ones.

Many carry unfinished business—property management, wills, financial concerns, or simple hopes like seeing grandchildren born or returning home.

The most common statements heard are not "help me recover" but rather:

"I don't want pain" "I don't want to be bedridden" "I don't want to burden my family" "I want to live longer… but please let me have good quality of life"

These words reveal that terminal patients seek meaning in their remaining time. Many families fear discussing the future for fear of discouraging patients, yet silence can leave everyone facing uncertainty when communication becomes impossible.

Simple questions should be asked while patients can still communicate and decide for themselves, such as:

• If your condition declines, what type of care do you want? • Do you wish to spend your final days at home or in the hospital? • How much information about your illness would you like to know? • Are there unfinished matters you want to resolve or address?

Although difficult, conversations started while patients can still decide help both patients and families ease worry, reduce confusion, and ensure future decisions truly reflect the patient's wishes. Beyond questions, listening itself is a form of treatment. When the medical team understands what patients need, care becomes aligned with the life patients want to live—whether that means managing pain, resolving unfinished business, preserving human dignity, or planning with family before the patient can no longer communicate.

Devotees Flock to Kham Chanod for Blessings During Buddhist Lent
30 Jul Khaosod

On July 30, 2569, coinciding with the Buddhist Lent season, crowds of devotees flocked to Kham Chanod Nakanin Shrine in Ban Dung District, Udon Thani Province, to seek blessings and prosperity from ancestral spirits. Visitors registered early and filled the ancestral shrine grounds throughout the day, requesting good fortune and auspicious outcomes for themselves and their families.

The Kham Chanod Service Committee organized a major candle-casting ceremony honoring ancestors for the Lent festival, presided over by Ban Dung District Chief Suriyont Donsomchit. After candle offerings to the Buddha, traditional merit-making rituals, and ancestor veneration ceremonies were completed, a traditional Kham Chanod dance performance followed.

As lottery draw day approached, visitors lined up to peer into a giant sacred water basin containing floating candle flames, hoping to spot lucky numbers reflected in the water. Numbers such as 3-4-7 and 7-3-5 circulated among lottery players, though interpretations varied. Outside the shrine, lottery vendors reported brisk sales of the numbers 801 and 108, which were promoted as blessed by the ancestral spirits, while the numbers 74 and 47 sold out completely by the August 1 draw date.

Fire Destroys Agricultural Store As Couple Distributes Wedding Cards
30 Jul Khaosod

On July 30 at 6:00 p.m., authorities in Chachoengsao District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province received reports of a major fire at an agricultural equipment and supplies shop in the western section of Chachoengsao Market. District Chief Weerachai Chulkaew and other officials coordinated ten fire trucks from municipal and subdistrict authorities to battle the blaze, which was spreading rapidly due to the abundance of agricultural supplies, chemicals, and PVC pipes inside the two-story shop serving as excellent fuel. Firefighters focused on preventing the flames from spreading to nearby residential areas in the crowded community and managed to contain it successfully.

After nearly three hours of intensive water spraying from multiple fire trucks, the fire was brought under control. The entire shop and its agricultural inventory were completely destroyed, with estimated damages of approximately 5 million baht. Police from Chachoengsao Station and forensic officers plan to investigate the cause, with preliminary evidence suggesting an electrical short circuit.

The shop owners, Punnapa (last name withheld), 32, and Ratchanon (last name withheld), 32, who are a couple, explained that they had operated the agricultural supplies shop for several years and were planning their wedding for August 15, 2569. Before the fire broke out, they had closed the shop and were out distributing wedding invitations when they learned their store had burned down completely. They suspect the fire resulted from an electrical short circuit and are awaiting police investigation to determine the actual cause.

Rural Village Mourns Popular YouTuber Hlon Solo's Death
30 Jul Khaosod

Residents of Wung Ka Sang village are heartbroken over the death of popular YouTuber Hlon Solo following his final video upload from their community. The case of the famous content creator's disappearance while filming in Georgia sparked widespread search efforts by Thai nationals abroad and social media appeals. He was subsequently found dead in a hotel, leaving fans and Thais questioning the circumstances surrounding his death, which has become major news.

His most recent YouTube video was filmed in Wung Ka Sang village, Moo 10, Pong Nam Ron subdistrict, Khlong Lan district, Kamphaeng Phet province in mid-June 2024, and was uploaded three weeks ago, accumulating over 3 million views. The video documented a remote rural community without electricity, phone signals, or internet access, showcasing local life and attractions. The village, once unknown, has since attracted steady streams of tourists following the video's release.

On July 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM, a reporter traveled approximately 60 kilometers from the city center to the village to retrace Hlon Solo's content creation journey, arriving after about one hour. Cell phone signal is cut off from the outside world starting at the Khlong Wang Chao National Park entrance. The route has improved over time with concrete and hardened earth roads. The village has 115 households with 360 residents who use radio for communication, solar cells for electricity, and purchase internet access hourly at 10 baht per hour, 25 baht for three hours, or 39 baht daily. Residents typically carry machetes when visiting the fields for self-defense and harvesting.

Everyone in the village knew Hlon Solo well as a famous YouTuber with many followers, and they closely followed news from his disappearance through his death. The residents felt deeply saddened by his death because when he came to film content in the village, everyone came to love him for his good character. Anusom Prasoertsilp, 42, owner of a shop where Hlon filmed, said: "I felt very sad hearing the news of his death. When he came to film alone, everyone in the village spoke with one voice saying they loved him very much. After his video was released, the village became known and attracted many tourists."

The reporter visited the Ban Pong Nam Ron Early Child Development Center (Wung Ka Sang), where Prapan Saeng Thong Sri, 31, a preschool teacher, explained that Hlon filmed a video for GULF Company during the presentation of solar panel installations for electricity. The teenagers in the village knew Hlon through social media and were delighted when he came to donate items and participate in community activities. Learning of his death shocked and deeply saddened everyone—no one expected it would be his last visit to film in the village. Children here felt extremely sad and could hardly believe it was real. During their brief time with Hlon, they felt attached and loved him greatly; he greeted everyone with good manners and was a truly kind YouTuber.

Thailand's transport ministry is seeking public input on a plan to ban gasoline tuk-tuks from central Bangkok's inner zone while permitting electric versions, aiming to reduce pollution around major temples and tourist sites.

Thailand to Ban Tuk-tuks from Central Bangkok
30 Jul Khaosod

The Department of Land Transport under the Ministry of Transport is opening a public consultation period on a draft ministerial regulation that would prohibit gasoline-powered three-wheel taxis from operating in central Bangkok, with an exception for electric tuk-tuks or during times specified by traffic officials. The consultation runs from July 28 to August 27. The measure targets central Bangkok's inner zone, which houses important national sites including Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram and other royal temples that attract both Thai and foreign tourists. The regulation is designed to control and manage noise and air pollution in this culturally significant area by restricting internal combustion engine tuk-tuks while allowing electric-powered versions to operate freely.

Python Hides in SUV Console, Rescuers Dismantle Dashboard

A python hiding in an SUV's front console forced rescuers in Chainat province to dismantle the dashboard to extract the 18-inch snake, which took nearly an hour to remove and another 90 minutes to reassemble.

Python Hides in SUV Console, Rescuers Dismantle Dashboard
30 Jul Khaosod

On July 30, rescue volunteers from the Chainat province Gratitude Foundation and local disaster prevention officials responded to a snake-in-vehicle incident at a shopping mall parking lot in Ban Glua subdistrict, Mueang Chainat. The vehicle owner, a 40-year-old woman, had abandoned her SUV in panic after discovering the snake coiled near her feet as she returned from shopping. The python jumped into the front console as she fled.

Rescuers initially attempted to locate the snake but struggled to reach it with their hands. They made the difficult decision to dismantle sections of the front console. When they opened the first section, they found a python about the size of a thumb, roughly 18 inches long. However, as they widened the opening, the snake repeatedly tried to escape deeper into the dashboard, forcing them to dismantle additional sections. What took just one minute to capture required nearly an hour of dismantling work before they could finally remove and release the python back into nature.

Even after the snake was secured, the rescue volunteers' work wasn't finished—they had to reassemble numerous car parts they had removed, a task that took approximately an hour and a half to restore the vehicle to its original condition. Despite the effort, they completed the repairs so the owner could drive away without worry. Meanwhile, lottery enthusiasts wasted no time photographing the license plate number 4221 to buy government lottery tickets, hoping for luck.
