Tuk-Tuk Driver Found Dead in Vehicle on Bangkok Street
A 47-year-old tuk-tuk driver was found dead in his vehicle on a Bangkok street early September 12, with authorities suspecting natural causes linked to his chronic illnesses and heavy drinking habits.
At 6:12 a.m. on September 12, Deputy Inspector Withaya Bounkham of Yan Nawa Police Station received a report from a concerned citizen who noticed a tuk-tuk driver lying in an unusual position on his vehicle near Amornrasasana Buddhist Association in Bangkok's Sathorn district. The passerby called out multiple times but received no response, then checked for a pulse and found none. Police were immediately notified. The victim, 47-year-old Wichian, was confirmed to have no vital signs and a cold body. Upon investigation at the scene, the driver's younger brother arrived and informed officers that the deceased suffered from tuberculosis, diabetes, and high blood pressure, and frequently drank heavily. With no permanent residence, he regularly slept in his tuk-tuk. Authorities have arranged for a medical autopsy to determine the true cause of death.
