Two Fishermen Rescue Drowning Father and Son in Khon Kaen
Two fishermen in Khon Kaen rescued a father and his son who had drowned while collecting clams in a village pond. After pulling the pair ashore, they performed CPR and coordinated with emergency services, which rushed the father to hospital for urgent treatment. Both victims survived thanks to the quick actions of the rescuers.
According to Pirasak KhamBa, he and Phuvanath Phongsi were fishing in a nearby pond when they heard the wife of the victim shouting for aid. They rushed to the scene and found the father already submerged while his son was barely keeping afloat. Without hesitation, the two men jumped into the water, brought the boy to shore, then searched for the father in the five‑metre‑deep pond. Pirasak stayed afloat to help while Phuvanath dove down; after about ten minutes they located the father’s body, pulled him to the surface, and began CPR. Together they dragged him ashore, continued chest compressions, and alerted the local rescue unit, which transported the father to Khon Kaen Hospital for emergency care. Pirasak noted that the father and son were regular visitors to the pond for gathering clams; on the day of the accident they were crossing to the other side when they slipped into a deep channel, causing the father to lose consciousness while trying to keep his son safe before both went under.
