Woman, 23, Dies After Pickup Truck Overturns in Lampang
A 23-year-old woman died after a pickup truck overturned on a Lampang highway near Wang Pong School on September 28, striking her during the crash while the driver sustained minor injuries.
A tragic accident occurred when a young couple drove out for a meal and their pickup truck lost control and flipped over. The 23-year-old woman was struck by the vehicle and died shortly after, while the driver sustained minor injuries.
At 21:35 on September 28, 2026, Wang Nuea Police Station in Lampang Province received a report of a pickup truck that had lost control and overturned on Highway 1035 (Lampang-Chae Hom-Wang Nuea route) near Wang Pong School in Wang Tai Subdistrict, Wang Nuea District. Emergency responders from Wang Nuea Hospital, Lampang Provincial Emergency Office, and Wang Nuea rescue volunteers were dispatched to assist.
At the scene, a white four-door Ford Ranger was found overturned in the middle of the road, severely damaged. A 23-year-old woman was found with severe injuries after being struck by the vehicle. Rescue personnel provided urgent assistance and transported her to the hospital, but she died later. The 28-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and received first aid before being taken to the hospital for detailed examination.
Initially, it was reported that both had driven out to eat and were traveling along the said route when the vehicle lost control and overturned, resulting in injuries and a death.
Additionally, engine oil residue from the damaged vehicle was found at the accident scene. Rescue personnel, together with Wang Nuea Highway Division officials, used oil absorbent powder to prevent hazards on the road surface. They coordinated with Wang Tai Subdistrict Administrative Organization to bring in a fire truck to clean up the oil residue for the safety of road users. Police are continuing a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident.
