Attorney General Names New Spokesperson Team, Recalls Veteran
Thailand’s Attorney General has appointed a new spokesperson team, with veteran official Prayuth Phetrkhun returning to lead the office’s communications. The team includes younger officials and the head of the Special Cases Office to promote transparency and timely public information. Attorney General Kowit Sripiroj said the move aims to combat misinformation and strengthen the office’s image.
Attorney General Kowit Sripiroj said the new team must communicate more with the public through the media, which led him to recall Prayuth Phetrkhun, the most experienced member of the office’s spokesperson team, to serve once again as spokesperson. He emphasized that the office’s communication strategy must serve as a reliable source for the public, preventing society from being misled by false information in today’s era of widespread opinion‑sharing, which can cause misunderstanding and social conflict. By placing Prayuth at the helm of the office’s main communications, the Attorney General aims to steer the narrative effectively.
In addition, Surachet Ngamwong, who oversees the Special Cases Office, was appointed as the first deputy spokesperson. The Special Cases Office handles high‑value damage claims and complex financial‑trail cases that attract media attention. Appointing its chief as deputy spokesperson underscores the Attorney General’s commitment to transparency in the prosecution of important cases, especially those handled by the Special Cases Office.
