Opposition Leader Says Evidence Ready for Senate Fraud Case

Opposition leader Nattapong Rueangpanya says the opposition has evidence implicating Bhumjaithai politicians in the Senate fraud case and will present it during parliamentary interrogation, accusing PM Anutin of deflecting accountability.

Opposition Leader Says Evidence Ready for Senate Fraud Case
18h ago Khaosod

Opposition leader Nattapong Rueangpanya has criticized Prime Minister Anutin for deflecting scrutiny of the Senate fraud investigation, stating the opposition holds clear evidence potentially implicating Bhumjaithai politicians. Speaking on August 18 at a Prachuap Khiri Khan provincial administration meeting, Nattapong said the opposition will bring evidence forward during parliamentary interrogation. He characterized government statements dismissing the fraud as politically unrelated as an attempt to block opposition oversight and a lack of political courage. Regarding the PM's accusation that the opposition is leveraging the Senate quota issue to gain power, Nattapong countered that all parties contesting elections naturally seek to govern, adding the opposition does not deny its goal to become government and reform Thai politics, but the PM should not use rhetoric to evade parliamentary accountability. When asked if the case failing to proceed against all 229 implicated individuals would amount to whitewashing, Nattapong said the Election Commission must refer all evidence to the Supreme Court, noting that legal standards require only reasonable belief to warrant prosecution. He warned the opposition is prepared to challenge any improper action by the Election Commission through multiple legal mechanisms. Regarding political pressure for PM Anutin to resign or dissolve parliament, Nattapong stated the PM has options at any time, but leaders must be ready for scrutiny and public accountability, leaving such decisions to the PM himself. When asked whether this represents internal conflict within the same political faction, Nattapong argued the blue-system coalition appears strong externally but lacks genuine political will because it is bound by mutual interests rather than shared policy objectives. He suggested this interest-based coalition structure contains inherent fragility, evidenced by current rifts and the emergence of the very evidence now public, which could only originate from those who participated in the original process and lost benefits from it.

Enfant Expands Premium Care Line Across All Ages
18h ago Khaosod

Enfant, a premium mother-and-child product brand operating for over 40 years in Thailand under ICC International Public Company Limited, reported first-half 2025 growth of 7% compared to the same period last year, defying Thailand's continuous decline in birth rates. The company is expanding its business portfolio into organic baby and family care products while strengthening its baby and kids apparel line to meet modern families seeking premium, gentle, and safe products for all ages, with a target of 12% growth for the full year.

Product director Pirata Tiranypat stated that despite Thailand's birth rate hitting a 75-year low, Enfant is driving strong growth by analyzing modern consumer behavior showing families increasingly invest in premium products. The company has shifted strategy to become an organic brand serving the entire family, not just newborns, addressing the trend of adults using gentle products for sensitive skin. Growth is being driven primarily by organic care products, with the signature Enfant Extra Moisture Daily Nourishing Lotion growing over 15%, followed by bath and hair care products and laundry products.

Enfant's organic moisturizing lotion, developed with Japanese Biohydrated LOC technology that locks in moisture for 24 hours, has become the number-one organic brand trusted by modern families. The product won the 2025 Mommy's Choice Award for outstanding children's skincare and organic lotion, and leads online sales channels while becoming a social media favorite.

The company has launched new innovations including a Family Care Moisture Shower Cream with HYA and Collagen formulas that cleanse skin from pollution and protect sensitive skin for children ages 3 and up through all family members. Despite changing Thai demographics, Enfant believes the premium family care market still has growth potential as the company transitions from a mother-and-child expert brand to an organic family care brand serving all ages.

Climate Agency Marks 3 Years With Net Zero 2050 Action Plan
18h ago Khaosod

On August 18, Permanent Secretary Raviwarn Phurideach presided over the three-year anniversary event for the Department of Climate Change and Environment and formally opened the Climate Change Information Center (CCIC). Raviwarn stressed that climate change represents a critical global challenge requiring long-term international cooperation. He linked the department's work to government policies, including the Net Zero 2050 target and a proposed Climate Change Law pending cabinet approval, aimed at building business competitiveness and strengthening early-warning and disaster-impact management systems to reduce losses of life and property.

He outlined four key priorities: translating policy into action, preparing for multifaceted risks, accelerating tools for economic transition, and strengthening cross-sector cooperation. According to Dr. Pirun Saiyasittipanich, Director-General of the Department of Climate Change and Environment, the agency was established on August 18, 2023, to drive Thailand toward a low-carbon economy and build climate resilience. Over three years, it has evolved into the nation's center for climate management, working to improve disaster response and align initiatives with government policy while pursuing environmental, economic, social, and technological development through a just transition framework under Thailand's Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy (LT-LEDS).

The Permanent Secretary then opened the Climate Change Information Center on the department's second floor, serving as Thailand's large-scale climate big data hub. It collects, analyzes, and processes spatial data using high-resolution climate models to forecast disasters and support 76 provincial climate coordination centers and Bangkok, enabling efficient public service delivery.

Activist Files Lese-Majeste Complaint Against MP Ice Rukchonok

An activist filed a lese-majeste complaint against People's Party MP Ice Rukchonok over a social media post using royal language, her second such case as she awaits trial on an earlier similar conviction.

Activist Files Lese-Majeste Complaint Against MP Ice Rukchonok
18h ago Khaosod

At 1:30 p.m. on August 18, 2025, activist Sandhya Sawasdi filed a complaint at the Central Investigation Police Command against Rukchonok Srinok, known as Ice, a People's Party MP, on charges under Section 112 of the Criminal Code and the Computer Crime Act. Sandhya said the complaint stems from a post by Ice that used a clip and remarks from a subdistrict administrator mentioning "higher-ups," followed by royal language (the word "spoke") that is grammatically reserved for the monarchy, royal family, or Buddha alone. This conduct, Sandhya argued, clearly links and expresses intent toward a specific person.

Sandhya noted the case resembles a 2564 conviction in which Ice posted others' statements on her private account, resulting in a six-year prison sentence under Section 112 and the Computer Crime Act, currently under appeal. He said this shows disregard for the justice process. Beyond filing with the investigating unit, Sandhya said he will petition the Attorney General within one to two weeks to ask the court to revoke Ice's temporary bail, as the post breaches court conditions prohibiting similar conduct. He cautioned the MP that creating additional cases does not build popularity but accumulates legal troubles, and urged caution in speech and social media posts.

When asked whether filing might be seen as boosting Ice's visibility, Sandhya said he is not concerned and accepts being viewed as "losing out." He emphasized his duty under the Constitution Article 50 to protect nation, religion, and monarchy, and denied seeking attention or hidden benefit. He noted he has filed at least 40–50 Section 112 cases previously and views this as fulfilling his legal obligation when encountering clear and flagrant conduct. The investigating officer has recorded his statement and will forward the matter to a superior for further action.
