Deputy PM Launches Klai Kep Kiao App for Farm Data
Deputy Prime Minister Supajee Suthamphanthu launched the 'Klai Kep Kiao' app on September 30, 2025, together with four ministries to improve agricultural management through data‑driven, area‑specific planning. The initiative starts with the main rice crop and will expand to other farm products, aiming to shift from reactive to proactive policies and raise quality and value for farmers.
On September 30, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Supajee Suthamphanthu unveiled the 'Klai Kep Kiao' application, a joint effort of the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society. The app is designed to elevate agricultural commodity management through data and technology, beginning with the main rice crop before extending to other farm products. It seeks to shift government work from reacting after problems arise to a 'know‑first, manage‑first' approach, implementing area‑specific measures so that support matches local conditions and needs.
Supajee said the core of 'Klai Kep Kiao' is giving the government advance visibility of agricultural situations and enabling more accurate policy decisions based on volume, price and production trends, thereby improving market readiness, distribution and farmer assistance. Provincial commerce offices will serve as the key mechanism for linking data and reflecting ground‑level situations.
This approach will move agricultural management from broad, blanket measures to targeted, area‑based actions, ensuring that aid and resource allocation align with each area’s challenges and potential. It will also advance the focus from mere volume and price to quality and value, raising the standard of agricultural products throughout the value chain—from production and harvest to processing and marketing.
For rice, the pilot commodity, the app will be deployed before the upcoming main‑rice harvest later this year, while also expanding the 'premium rice' program to enhance quality and productivity. Currently, 466 farmer groups participate in the premium rice initiative; data will be used to assess each area’s strengths and limitations to tailor development plans that boost output quality, value and farmers’ incomes.
The four‑ministry cooperation aims to ensure data is actually used—for monitoring and analysis, forecasting, and then shaping and implementing measures on the ground—so that agricultural management becomes faster, more precise and more responsive to farmers’ needs, turning information into concrete solutions.
'Klai Kep Kiao' marks the start of proactive agricultural commodity management, using data and technology to anticipate problems, direct measures to suitable areas, and build on quantity‑ and price‑based management to raise quality and value, thereby creating long‑term stability and sustainability for Thailand’s farming sector.
The launch was attended by Commerce Ministry Permanent Secretary Wutthikrai Liriwaphandu, Assistant Minister Piyanuch Wutthison, Director General of the Department of Business Development Poonphong Nainaphakorn, Director of the Office of Trade Policy and Strategy Nantapong Jiraleephong, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Waraporn Rungtrakarn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Krit Utthamawetin, and Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society Chomparee Chomphurat.
