On 10 October 2026, Police Region 2 announced that arrest warrants had been issued for five suspects following an armed robbery on 6 October at the Cascade by Pattaya housing estate in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district. Around 03:30, three masked men armed with guns and knives broke into the residence, threatened and assaulted the occupants, and handcuffed Turkish businessman Kutay Aslan, 34, and a Myanmar cleaner. The thieves stole 824,000 USDT in cryptocurrency, 210,000 baht in cash, five Rolex watches and four mobile phones, totaling about 37 million baht. Investigators later found an abandoned Toyota Fortuner linked to the gang in Soi Jomtien 9, Pattaya, and seized 14 items including balaclavas, gloves, clothing, shoes and an aluminium ladder for forensic analysis.
Further investigation examined witness statements, vehicle GPS data, rental and hotel records, and immigration files, matching suspect clothing descriptions to recovered items. The suspects were identified as Dong Ping, 38, who allegedly arranged vehicles and accommodation; Lixinle, 31; Wang Hongbo, 32; Mu Hongda, 33; and Zhiyu Wang, 31. On 9 October, prosecutors submitted evidence to the Pattaya Provincial Court, which granted arrest warrants numbered 570–574/2569 for all five. They face charges of armed nighttime robbery, causing bodily or mental harm, unlawful detention, and firearms offenses. However, travel records showed all five had already left Thailand. Police are coordinating with the Chinese Embassy and pursuing Interpol Red Notices to locate and extradite the suspects. Investigators are also tracing the stolen cryptocurrency, watches and other valuables, and checking whether any additional people were involved. Police Region 2 said sufficient evidence was gathered within three days to secure the warrants, and vowed to continue working with domestic and international agencies to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen property.
