The Forestry Department has won two Excellence in Public Administration Awards for 2025, showcasing its community forest project at Ban Ton Tarn and the eTree digital system to enhance public services. On September 11, Dr. Pongpyakkhz Sriya, Deputy Director-General of the Forestry Department, accepted the awards at a ceremony held in Nonthaburi province. The Forestry Department was selected by the Office of the Civil Service Commission to receive two significant awards emphasizing transparent, convenient, and sustainable service delivery that creates tangible public benefit. Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nila Praphan presided over the ceremony and presented awards to recipient agencies.
Both awards recognize the department's staff commitment and dedication to serving the public and nation through natural resource conservation and participation-based governance. The Forestry Department aims to deliver tangible benefits to the public while fostering community involvement in forest protection, restoration, and maintenance, and reforming forest services to be accessible, transparent, and equitable.
The two awards received are: (1) Participatory Public Administration Award for Community Achievement—"Good" Level, honoring the Ban Ton Tarn community forest management project where villagers actively participate with the state in forest stewardship, creating unity and ensuring sustainable resource security aligned with local livelihoods; and (2) Public Service Improvement Award for Responsive Quality Service—"Good" Level, recognizing the eTree sustainable forest management system based on the concept "Plant It Yourself, Record It Yourself, Declare Your Rights Yourself, and Sell It Yourself." The eTree platform digitizes forest management via mobile technology, enabling citizens to verify data and self-declare land ownership rights instantly, track tree carbon storage, strengthen timber traceability nationwide, and build an integrated national forest database supporting green economy development and international trade transparency.
