The Thailand Meteorological Department issued Alert No. 1 on September 15, 2025, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand from September 17–20. The northern and northeastern regions will be affected first on September 17, with central, eastern, and southern regions impacted on September 18 as a cold air mass from China spreads southward, pushing a monsoon trough downward and strengthening the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Fifty-seven provinces are listed as experiencing heavy rain.
The public is advised to prepare for flash floods, accumulated rainfall, and rapid flooding in hilly terrain, foothills, and low-lying areas. Travel through flood-prone routes, especially in depressions, should be avoided. Waves in the Andaman Sea will be fairly strong at 2–3 meters, with thunderstorm areas seeing waves exceeding 3 meters. Fishermen in the Gulf and Andaman Sea should navigate with caution and avoid thunderstorm zones; small boats in the Andaman should remain ashore during September 17–20.
