Thai Textiles and Heritage Crafts Showcase Opens in Bangkok
A Bangkok showcase from August 11–13 celebrates Thai textiles and traditional weaving through contemporary fashion, featuring over 100 pieces from 10 communities nationwide that blend heritage craftsmanship with modern design.
The Public Relations Department invites the public, designers, entrepreneurs, and fashion enthusiasts to experience Thai textiles and traditional craftsmanship at "Legacy of Thai Textiles & Fashion" from August 11–13, 2025, at Charoen Nakhon Hall and Tara Hall, Level M, IconSiam.
The event operates under the concept "Legacy: Creative Continuity & Creativity," reflecting how Thai textile weaving and traditional dress-making are not merely cultural heritage to be preserved but are actively being developed, evolved, and creatively advanced to remain relevant to the modern world while maintaining Thai identity. Contemporary designers, weavers, artisans, community members, and young people are reviving and reimagining Thai clothing and textile knowledge as modern creations that serve everyday needs while gaining recognition both nationally and internationally as contemporary fashion rooted in historical significance and Thai identity.
The exhibition features fashion and creative products from 10 model communities nationwide, including textile groups from Surat Thani, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Songkhla, Roi Et, Kalasin, Thai Silk Village in Chiang Mai, the silk weaving group from Lamphun, Impani Group in Ratchaburi, and Nakhon Ratchasima's golden silk group. Developed through collaboration between community entrepreneurs, designers, stylists, and fashion experts, the event showcases over 100 pieces reflecting local identity through contemporary design, encompassing both formal attire and everyday lifestyle fashion.
