BANGKOK — 6 September 2026, LISA's latest single "SaWaDiKa" has raced past 100 million views on YouTube around two days after its release, giving the Thai superstar another blockbuster opening while putting Bangkok and Thai culture firmly at the centre of her latest musical era.
The official music video was released on Friday, 4 September, and drew 70.8 million views in its first 24 hours, one of the biggest YouTube debuts ever recorded by a solo artist. By Sunday morning, the video had crossed the 100-million-view mark as fans continued streaming and sharing the release worldwide.
"SaWaDiKa" takes its name from the familiar Thai greeting sawasdee ka, and serves as the lead single from LISA's forthcoming EP "PRESS PLAY", due for release on 23 October. The track was released through LLOUD Co. and RCA Records.
The song leans heavily into LISA's Thai identity, pairing her rap delivery and hip-hop sound with a title immediately recognisable to anyone familiar with Thailand. LISA is credited as one of the song's writers alongside Thom Bridges, Mark Williams, Raul Cubina, Rachel West, and Danny Chung. Production was handled by Bridges and producer duo Ojivolta.
Bridges has previously worked on music for artists including David Guetta and Little Mix, while Ojivolta have credits on major international releases including ROSÉ's "On The Ground" and Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow's "Industry Baby".
The three-minute track was mixed by Manny Marroquin and mastered by Randy Merrill, with Kuk Harrell serving as vocal producer and recording engineer, according to the official recording credits.
Bangkok Takes the Scene
The accompanying music video was directed by Bang Jae Yeob and filmed in Bangkok, turning streets, neighbourhoods, and cultural symbols from Thailand into part of the production itself.
More than a backdrop, "SaWaDiKa" fills the video with recognisably Thai imagery, including Muay Thai, tuk-tuks, Chula kites, local streetscapes, and fashion that mixes contemporary styling with references to Thai culture.
Among the Bangkok locations featured are Rong Mueang Road near Hua Lamphong, Soi Ngam Duphli in Sathorn, Soi Chaloem Khet 1 in the Yotse area, and contemporary art space Dib Bangkok. Together, the locations move between old shophouses and neighbourhood streets, Bangkok's Muay Thai culture, remnants of the city's cinema history, and striking contemporary architecture.
It follows a formula LISA has used to enormous effect before. Her 2024 solo single "Rockstar" famously transformed Bangkok's Yaowarat Road into a neon-lit stage, drawing international attention to the capital's Chinatown.
This time, however, the canvas is wider. "SaWaDiKa" presents several sides of Bangkok, from its older neighbourhoods to modern art spaces, while placing explicitly Thai imagery within a global pop release.
The explosive response also continues LISA's remarkable record on YouTube. "SaWaDiKa's" reported 70.8 million views in its first 24 hours placed it among the most-viewed music video debuts of all time.
