A 10-month-old male kitten named Toby from Michigan, USA, has become a sensation in the cat-loving community after being recognized by Guinness World Records for being born with 28 toes—setting a new world record for the cat with the most digits. This breaks the previous record held by Jake from Canada, established in 2002, while typical cats have only 18 toes. Toby's distinctive paws immediately caught the attention of his owner, Delaney Henderson, who was shocked to see far more digits than she had anticipated.
Toby has the rare genetic condition known as "Polydactyl," which gives him more toes than normal. While this trait occasionally appears in certain cat breeds, having 28 toes is exceptionally unusual. Henderson explained that although she had previously owned polydactyl cats, she expected only an extra thumb-like digit. When she first saw Toby's paws, she was astounded by how many extra toes he had. Beyond his remarkable feet, she fell instantly in love with his adorable face and soft purr, deciding immediately to give him a permanent, warm home.
Despite having more toes than typical cats, Toby has no mobility issues or difficulty with daily activities—he runs, plays, and functions like any other cat. The main special care required is regular claw trimming, as Toby has 30 claws total. However, Henderson confirms that Toby is in excellent health with no complications from his unique condition and enjoys life as cheerfully as any ordinary cat.
