Mother and Teenage Daughter Killed by Truck in Chachoengsao
A mother and her 16-year-old daughter were killed when a trailer truck struck their motorcycle on a road in Chachoengsao Province on September 11, with police investigating whether the bike lost control while attempting to pass.
On September 11 at 5:00 p.m., officers from Phan Thong Police Station in Chachoengsao Province responded to a report of a trailer truck striking a motorcycle on the Phan Thong–Ban Kao road in Ban Kao Subdistrict, Phan Thong District. At the scene, police found a blue and white Honda Wave motorcycle lying on its side. Two bodies were discovered nearby: Ms Walin, 45, the mother, and Ms Gallya, 16, her daughter, a vocational college student in the area. Initial investigation showed both victims were struck by the truck wheels in the head and died at the scene, with broken helmets found scattered around.
According to preliminary investigation, the mother had picked up her daughter from school and was riding the motorcycle home when the accident occurred. Jiraphut, 26, the truck driver, stated he was driving normally when he noticed in his mirror that the motorcycle was attempting to pass on the left side. He said the motorcycle then lost control, fell, and slid directly into the rear of the trailer, causing both riders to be struck by the wheels and killed.
Police are examining closed-circuit television footage from the accident site and nearby areas, and will conduct detailed interviews with the truck driver and witnesses to determine the true cause and sequence of events before proceeding with legal action.
