A 34-year-old woman from Prakonchairai in Buriram province is appealing for justice through the media, fearing her family's safety after her ex-husband was released from detention in a child sexual abuse case. She reported that in June 2569, with help from the Purina Foundation, she filed charges against her ex-husband, age 37, for sexually abusing their 11-year-old daughter, a fifth-grade student, over a period of more than six years beginning when the child was five years old. Nang Rong Provincial Court issued an arrest warrant charging him with child sexual abuse, indecent assault on a minor under 13, and child trafficking for sexual purposes before police arrested and remanded him in custody.
Yesterday, someone reported seeing the man back at his home. Neighbors showed her posts he had made that appeared to be threats of revenge against his ex-wife for filing charges against him, and he claimed the allegations were false. The mother said the family now lives in fear, worried he will harm them, and wants authorities to provide protection. She described him as having a volatile temperament.
The accused man claims he never did anything to the child and feels he has been treated unfairly, having been detained for 84 days. He says the court released him after determining his innocence; if he were guilty, the court would have sentenced him given the serious nature of the charges. He denied ever making threats to anyone.
When questioned, the investigating officer explained that the court released him because he had completed seven detention periods, which the law does not permit to be extended further. The delay in the case timeline was because the prosecutor requested additional investigation due to the complexity of the allegations. The officer stated that tomorrow he will bring the man to meet with the prosecutor again to move the case forward. Given the severity of the charges, the man is likely to face a lengthy legal process.
