MP Suchada Rejects Baseless Claims, Asks Rangsiman for Proof
MP Suchada Sang Thanthap hit back at Rangsiman Rom after he linked her husband to a bribery allegation without evidence, calling the claims baseless and damaging to her family. She demanded proof, insisted her assets were properly disclosed, and said she would pursue defamation charges. The exchange took place during a live parliamentary interpellation on October 1, 2069.
At 1:50 p.m. on October 1, 2069 (Buddhist calendar), at the parliament building, Suchada Sang Thanthap, the Chaiyaphum MP for Bhumjaithai, addressed the matter raised by Rangsiman Rom during a live interpellation concerning allegations that someone had offered a 40‑million‑baht bribe to the Digital Economy and Society Minister. She said the interpellation mentioned and called for an investigation into her husband’s work, which she described as baseless and lacking evidence. Suchada stressed that as an elected representative watched by the public, any statement should be backed by proof, especially from someone chairing the parliamentary committee on law, justice and human rights. She argued that Rom, knowing the law, could use his committee to investigate properly, but making unsubstantiated remarks that harmed her family was unacceptable and showed no willingness to retract or take responsibility. When asked whether she could pursue a defamation case, Suchada replied she would pursue legal action to the fullest extent, planning to consult her lawyers after leaving the chamber. In response to Rom’s claim that he possessed evidence, she retorted, 'If you have evidence, why haven’t you released it? Stop making vague accusations; here in parliament everyone is watching.' She added that her husband could not defend himself in parliament, putting him at a disadvantage because of Rom’s position, and reiterated that she had fully disclosed her assets in accordance with the law and was prepared to fight the matter.
