Phetchabun Floods Strike Again After Overnight Respite
Phetchabun's Pasak River overflowed for the second time in two days after heavy overnight rain, flooding about 40-50 homes in Lom Kao district with water depths reaching 80 centimeters and prompting rescue operations by boat.
Heavy downpours in Phetchabun province sent a massive surge of water into the Pasak River, which overflowed its banks and flooded homes in Ban Wang Muang (Moo 8) and Ban Wang Khon (Moo 1), Tat Kloi subdistrict, Lom Kao district—marking the second deluge in as many days. This time, water levels rose higher and covered a wider area than the previous flood. About 40 to 50 houses were damaged, with floodwaters reaching 50–80 centimeters in depth at some locations, making it impossible for small vehicles to pass. Rescue personnel deployed boats to assist residents. Angkrit Wanchai, a Phetchabun Provincial Administration Organization councilor from Lom Kao district, explained that after water levels initially receded and some roads reopened, heavy rain struck upstream again after 10 a.m., sending a fresh surge of water into the area and reigniting the crisis. Although the S3 water-measurement station recorded a drop to 7.39 meters, water levels in the Wang Muang area continued to rise as the floodwaters moved downstream through Ban Wang Muang and Ban Wang Khon toward the Pasak River and onward to Lom Sak district. Authorities are urging downstream residents, particularly those in Lom Sak municipality, to monitor the situation closely and prepare for the incoming floodwaters.
