PM Anuthin: Thailand Belongs to All Thais
PM Anuthin rejected calls to "reclaim" Thailand from what activists describe as capital imperialism, stating the nation belongs to all Thais and requires no reclaiming.
Prime Minister Anuthine Charnvirakul said Thailand and Thai people are not indebted to anyone, as the country belongs to all Thais and needs no reclaiming, in response to Sondhi Limthongkul, a former core leader of the People's Alliance for Democracy, who announced a rally for September 7 to mobilize crowds demanding the nation be returned from what he calls capital imperialism. Speaking at Government House on September 3, the Prime Minister dismissed the claim, arguing that Thailand is the property of all Thai people and therefore there is nothing to reclaim. When asked whether he expected further problems, the Prime Minister said citizens have the right to freedom of expression under the constitution, provided they act within the law and constitutional framework, adding that there would be no issues under those conditions.
