A Facebook user has shared a cautionary account of their stay at a resort on Koh Laan in Chachoengsao province, where they discovered a snake and geckos in the bathroom. The guest screamed and fled in panic, while the resort owner stated that animal intrusions are routine because the property sits in a forested area.
The incident, which occurred on March 18, 2567, was posted about two years later on September 25, 2569 by Darin, the guest. Darin travels to Koh Laan regularly each year and decided to book this resort after spotting it while driving past, impressed by its appearance and atmosphere. Rather than checking Google Maps reviews or asking previous guests, the booking was made directly through the resort's website.
On the first day of check-in, nothing seemed amiss, though a faint odor resembling a dead animal was noticed in the bathroom—a smell the guest attributed to the carpet or poor cleaning and dismissed. Near the sink, what appeared to be decomposed gecko remains were found and discarded with tissue.
On the morning of the second day around 7 a.m., Darin entered the bathroom to shower and get ready for breakfast at 9 a.m. The resort's jungle setting made the bathroom dim and musty in the early morning. Still drowsy, Darin locked the bathroom door behind them before turning on the lights. Upon glancing up at the area above the door, two geckos were visible, causing immediate alarm. The guest slowly backed toward the bathtub.
When a snake began to move and descended, Darin screamed in terror. A second snake then slithered down and coiled around a third gecko. Darin's friend awoke and tried to help but could not immediately open the locked door from outside.
Trapped inside the bathroom with three geckos and one snake—two geckos by the door and one being constricted—Darin sat crying and screaming until composing themselves enough to unlock the door for their friend, then rushed to bed and covered themselves in blankets out of fear.
When the resort's housekeeper and owner arrived, the housekeeper used a long tong-like tool to extract the geckos outside the bathroom one by one into a black bag. The snake that was constricting the third gecko was also removed with tongs; both the snake and its prey died in the process. One gecko escaped to the ceiling and was not captured.
