Flooding Hits 12 Provinces, Affects Over 11,000 Households
Heavy rainfall and runoff from northern Thailand have flooded 12 provinces across central and eastern regions, affecting nearly 12,000 households with over 37,000 people impacted as of September 25.
On September 25, Theeraphatthanakajmatyai, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, disclosed that heavy to intense rainfall across multiple areas, combined with water runoff from the northern region merging with central plains water masses, has created flooding in 12 provinces. The affected provinces are Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Singburi, Suphan Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaew, Trat, and Surin, spanning 38 districts, 143 subdistricts, 596 villages, 11,796 households, and 37,036 people.
Phetchabun: Flooding in Lom Sak district affecting 2 subdistricts, 8 villages, and 280 households. Water levels are decreasing. Nakhon Sawan: Flooding in 6 districts (Phisai, Tha Tak, Tak Fa, Phayuhakiri, Banphot Phisai, Lad Yao) affecting 26 subdistricts, 131 villages, and 184 households. Water levels are stable. Uthai Thani: Flooding in 3 districts (Sawang Arom, Nong Khayang, Muang) affecting 3 subdistricts, 4 villages, and 60 households. Water levels are decreasing. Singburi: Flooding in Inthon district affecting 1 subdistrict, 3 villages, and 5 households. Water levels are stable. Suphan Buri: Flooding in 5 districts (Bang Pla Ma, Song Phi Nong, Muang, Sri Prachan, Don Chedi) affecting 24 subdistricts, 133 villages, and 5,548 households. Water levels are rising. Saraburi: Flooding in 3 districts (Nong Saeng, Mueang Saeng, Muang) affecting 6 subdistricts, 17 villages, and 179 households. Water levels are decreasing. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya: Flooding in 6 districts (Senanikhom, Bang Baan, Phak Hai, Bang Sai, Bang Pa-in, Ayutthaya) affecting 55 subdistricts, 240 villages, and 5,030 households. Water levels are stable. Prachuap Khiri Khan: Flooding in 2 districts (Kabin Buri, Si Maha Phot) affecting 2 subdistricts, 4 villages, and 136 households. Water levels are stable. Chachoengsao: Flooding in 3 districts (Bang Nam Priao, Phanom Sarakham, Bang Kla) affecting 8 subdistricts, 22 villages, and 117 households. Water levels are rising. Sa Kaew: Flooding in 6 districts (Muang, Watthananakhon, Aranyaprathet, Khok Sung, Khlong Hat, Wang Nam Yen) affecting 14 subdistricts, 32 villages, and 227 households. Water levels are rising. Trat: Flooding in Bo Rai district affecting 1 subdistrict, 1 village, and 30 households. Water levels are decreasing. Surin: Flooding in Phanom Dong Rak district affecting 1 subdistrict, 1 village, with damage assessment ongoing. Water levels are decreasing.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has coordinated with provincial offices, district centers, local government organizations, police, military units, civil volunteers, and related agencies to provide continuous assistance to affected residents. Officials equipped with disaster response machinery—including pump-equipped trucks, flood mitigation vehicles, and high-capacity mobile pumping units—are actively draining water from affected areas, evacuating vulnerable groups to safe locations, and distributing drinking water. Close coordination is being maintained to support residents across all flooded zones.
