Severe Rain Warning Issued for Northern Thailand
Thailand's meteorological department issued its highest weather alert for four days of heavy to very heavy rain across the north and northeast starting September 4, with risks of flash floods in low-lying areas and river basins.
Starting today for four days and 96 hours, the Meteorology Department issues alert number five warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall across affected provinces. Watch for flash floods and flash flooding. On September 4, 2569, the Meteorology Department announced heavy to very heavy rain across upper Thailand through September 7, 2569. From September 4–7, upper Thailand will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas, particularly in the northern and northeastern regions due to a monsoon trough passing through the north and upper northeast, combined with moderate southwest monsoon winds covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The public should be alert to dangers from heavy rainfall and accumulated precipitation, which may cause flash floods and flash flooding, especially in the Mekong River basin, sloping areas near watercourses, and low-lying zones. Avoid traveling through routes with recurring flooding problems, particularly low-lying areas that may experience temporary flooding.
